Job Description:

Position Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer – Calibration & Metrology is responsible for leading and continuously improving the organization's calibration and measurement systems to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of inspection, measuring, and test equipment used in aerospace, defense, and high-reliability manufacturing environments. This role serves as the technical focal point for calibration compliance, metrology activities, measurement systems, equipment validation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously improve the site calibration and metrology program.
  • Ensure calibration compliance and measurement traceability for inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Support calibration scheduling, equipment recalls and tracking of overdue equipment.
  • Lead investigations of out-of-tolerance equipment and assess potential product impact.
  • Support validation and qualification of new inspection, test, and production equipment.
  • Conduct internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Lead and support corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Analyze quality and calibration metrics to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Evaluate and monitor external calibration service providers.
  • Provide technical guidance and training related to calibration, measurement systems, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams to improve process capability and measurement effectiveness.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Engineering, Calibration, Metrology, or related experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, semiconductor, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Calibration and metrology principles
    • Measurement systems and traceability
    • Root cause analysis and corrective actions
    • Statistical analysis and process improvement
    • Internal auditing and quality management systems
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Experience with calibration management software and measurement system analysis.\

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $205,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
