Role and Scope of Position:The Senior Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. Areas of expertise include designing new substations and infrastructure, analyzing systems and disruptions to service, working with transformers, engineering the electrical protection and control circuits that handles the flow of power, and dealing with acceptance testing of equipment, failures of equipment and analysis of system disturbances.
Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. Role and Scope of Position:
This position is accountable for maintaining support and managing the source of records of the Distribution SCADA system. The Senior Engineer will participate in planning, development, scheduling and troubleshooting of D-SCADA. The Senior Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization.
Grid Modernization is responsible for directly supporting the Company’s plans to modernize the design and operation of the electric distribution system. In this role you will support multi-disciplinary teams through the life cycle of projects from conception and regulatory filings, planning and implementation, and through performance measurement and verification.
Essential Functions:
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
- Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; Possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
- High level proficiency in SCADA applications including configuration, database development, control mapping, and troubleshooting. GE knowledge preferred.
Develops, validates and maintains realistic power system modeling of internal and external systems used by the EMS Network Applications. - Develop, configure, test and commission RTUs and field devices for integration with SCADA system.
- Proficiency in DNP3 communication protocol, Point mapping, control configuration, alarm analysis, and messaging analytics. Familiarity with other communication protocols (LG, Harris, etc) a plus
- Perform SCADA network analysis using tools like Wireshark to troubleshoot communication issues between a SCADA system and field.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

- Familiarity with power related software is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Experience: Five to eight (5 to -8 years) related experience is required. Familiarity with SCADA/EMS is highly desirable.

- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
