The Opportunity
The Senior Engineer, CAD is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the methods, operational sequences, and processes for manufacturing and fabricating parts, components, and assemblies. This role serves as a key interface with the design engineering team to coordinate the release of new products. Key duties include estimating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, and recommending tooling and process requirements for both new and existing product lines. The position also involves maintaining records and reporting systems to ensure the smooth coordination of all manufacturing operations.
What You Will Do
- Leads the design and development of complex, high-performance circuits and systems, making critical architectural and component trade-off decisions to meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Design and develop printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, ensuring full compliance with established company guidelines and industry best practices
- Develops and maintains the electronic component libraries, including the creation of schematic symbols and PCB land patterns, in strict accordance with IPC and internal company standards
- Mentors and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, conduct thorough design reviews, and actively help them develop their technical and problem-solving skills.
- Creates and maintains clear and accurate design documentation, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
- Generate, validate, and release comprehensive PCB fabrication (TED) packages, consistently meeting all project deadlines.
- Proactively identifies opportunities and champions initiatives to improve design processes, tools, and methodologies, thereby increasing team efficiency and overall design quality.
- Submit monthly accomplishment report including problems encountered, recommendations, new learning, and goals
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Bachelors Degree in Electronics / Electrical or Equivalent CAD Layout/Schematic Capture Experience
- Strong working knowledge of analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with industry standard EDA tools for developing PCB designs, such as Altium Designer (preferred), Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL and Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
- Experience with ATE applications, such as Teradyne Eagle and prober
- Ability to take full ownership of a complex-hardware subsystem from concept to completion.
- The ability to independently diagnose and resolve ambiguous and complex system-level issues.
- Identify inefficiencies in the team's workflow, tools, or methodologies and take the initiative to research, propose, and lead the implementation of better solutions
- Mentoring junior engineers by reviewing their work, providing constructive and detailed feedback, and teaching them advanced concepts and best practices.
- Knowledge of the application and use of various electronics laboratory test equipment
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Progressive experience (typically 5+ years) in hardware engineering, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex products from concept to production.
- Proficiency with EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout such as Altium Designer (preferred), Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL and Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
- Experience with ATE applications
