The Role
About Zeeco:

Zeeco designs and manufactures advanced industrial combustion and pollution control technologies serving the petroleum, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries. The company’s comprehensive product portfolio includes ultra-low emission burners, gas and liquid flaring systems, vapor control systems, and hazardous waste incineration solutions, supporting clients in meeting stringent safety, reliability, and environmental compliance requirements.

Zeeco’s corporate headquarters is located near Tulsa, Oklahoma (USA), on a modern, debt-free 230-acre campus that includes a 66,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and one of the industry’s largest combustion research and testing centers. With a strong global footprint, Zeeco operates through subsidiaries in the United States, United Kingdom, South Korea, India, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, enabling localized execution and global project delivery.

At Zeeco, we foster a culture that challenges conventional approaches, encourages technical and operational innovation, and recognizes individual contributions. The organization values integrity, accountability, and collaboration across all functions.

Position Overview:

The Procurement Engineer / Procurement Specialist is responsible for executing end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials and bought-out items required for the fabrication and delivery of industrial combustion and pollution control systems. The role ensures timely availability of technically compliant materials while maintaining strict adherence to cost, quality, and delivery objectives in line with project schedules and organizational budgets.

Working closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Estimation, and Project teams, the incumbent will manage RFQ issuance, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, purchase order finalization, and material expediting. The role demands a strong understanding of engineering materials, international codes and standards, and supplier capabilities relevant to combustion and fired-equipment applications.

This position plays a critical role in supporting project execution by mitigating supply-chain risks, optimizing procurement costs, maintaining approved vendor compliance, and upholding Zeeco’s ethical standards and performance-driven culture. The successful candidate will contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and support accurate cost inputs for future bids and proposals.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Additional certifications in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Materials Management will be considered an added advantage.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant procurement experience in heavy engineering, EPC, or manufacturing environments, preferably within combustion systems, fired equipment, process equipment, or pressure vessel industries.
  • Proven exposure to procurement of raw materials and bought-out items such as plates, pipes, structural steel, forgings, fasteners, welding consumables, gaskets, and fittings.
  • Hands-on experience working with approved vendor lists (AVL), RFQ processes, bid evaluations, and PO finalization.
  • Experience in supporting fabrication-driven projects with tight delivery schedules and cost controls.

Technical & Functional Skills:

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, material requisitions (MRs), and technical delivery conditions (TDCs).
  • Working knowledge of international material and fabrication standards such as ASTM, ASME, API, ISO, DIN, and EN.
  • Familiarity with quality documentation, including Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), EN 10204 (3.1 / 3.2), and basic material traceability requirements.
  • Exposure to vendor negotiations, commercial terms, Incoterms, payment terms, and delivery clauses.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Inspection, and Estimation teams.
  • Experience in expediting materials, tracking delivery schedules, and resolving supply-chain-related issues.
  • Competency in maintaining material cost databases and providing reliable costing inputs to proposal and estimation teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle or equivalent) and strong working knowledge of MS Excel for bid tabulation and cost analysis.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Interpreting Material Requisitions (MRs), BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications issued by engineering for fired and pressure equipment.
  • Issuing RFQs to approved and technically qualified vendors, obtaining compliant offers, and performing commercial and technical bid evaluations.
  • Ensuring materials met critical parameters such as chemical composition, mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and service suitability for combustion applications.
  • Coordinating with engineering, quality, and inspection teams to ensure compliance with code requirements (ASME Section II, ASME Section VIII, API 560/537 where applicable).
  • Managing procurement of specialized welding consumables (electrodes, wires, fluxes) aligned with WPS/PQR requirements for high-temperature and alloy materials.
  • Ensuring complete material traceability, including review and approval of Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), EN 10204 (3.1/3.2) documentation, and heat-number traceability.
  • Supporting third-party inspections (TPI) and client witness inspections for critical materials.
  • Monitoring supplier manufacturing schedules, expediting deliveries, and ensuring on-time availability of materials to meet fabrication and project timelines.
  • Maintaining procurement within approved budgets while ensuring quality, compliance, and lifecycle reliability of combustion equipment.

Behavioral & Professional Competencies:

  • High level of integrity, ethical judgment, and compliance orientation in procurement activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal stakeholders, vendors, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Structured, detail-oriented approach with a strong focus on cost, quality, and delivery (CQD) objectives.
  • Alignment with organizational values and ability to uphold company culture in all professional engagements.
