Your key responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer in the Channel Security team, you will be a core individual contributor responsible for the hands-on development of our mission-critical platform. You will focus on writing high-quality, scalable code for the backend services that power our real-time channel security capabilities. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer to build, test, and deploy a resilient and performant system.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable backend microservices for the Channel Security platform using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and related technologies.
- Partner with the Lead Engineer on solution design and participate actively in code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural principles and maintain high code quality standards.
- Implement robust integrations with internal and external systems.
- Champion a "shift-left" approach to quality by writing comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for all new features.
- Contribute to the operational health of the platform by participating in troubleshooting, and incident resolution as part of our "you build it, you run it" culture.
- Collaborate with the DevOps engineer to ensure services are observable, easy to deploy, and meet non-functional requirements for performance and reliability.
Your skills and experience
- Strong, hands-on backend programming experience with the modern Java ecosystem (Java 17+, Spring Boot).
- Overall experience of 9-14 years in software engineering, with a strong focus on building robust, scalable backend systems.
- Hands-on Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, or experimenting with LLMs/AI APIs to improve engineering productivity, testing, troubleshooting, or automation
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems principles.
- Practical experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems, specifically Kafka.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and an understanding of in-memory data stores/caches (Redis).
- A strong commitment to quality with hands-on experience in writing various levels of automated tests (unit, integration, E2E, BDD).
- Experience working in a cloud-native environment (GCP preferred) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues across multiple services.
- A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a lean, focused engineering team.
Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.

Skills Required
