As part of this team the Senior Energy Technology Analyst will develop and deliver in-depth analyses of potential transformational technologies that could shape GE Vernova's strategy. This requires identifying key internal and external data sources, as well as the use of a variety of modeling approaches to evaluate both technical and commercial readiness, value and risk, as well as impact from regulations and policy. The insights generated from these analyses will form the basis of a comprehensive narrative on potential opportunities for new and/or disruptive technologies. This information will be used to develop recommendations for potential future investments or programs.
Technology/domain explorations to date have focused on the hydrogen value chain, carbon management, and zero emissions dispatchable power. Future technology assessments may focus on data centers of the future, industrial electrification, as well as grid and power conversion technologies.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze, synthesize, and interpret data from a combination of internal and external resources to evaluate electrification or decarbonization technologies, developing insights that highlight readiness, value and risk, from both technical and commercial perspectives.
- Use existing and potentially new tools / analytic frameworks to provide qualitative technology evaluations.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts in a variety of functions (technology, marketing, ventures, etc.) across GE Vernova as part of the evaluation process.
- Develop an understanding of international and regional specific priorities, policies and regulations that impact potential technologies and include these factors in the analysis.
- Communicate complex concepts and messages to others … support development of the strategic narrative by creating memos, white papers, presentations, etc., that communicate the technical and commercial viability of new technologies/concepts/systems to achieve GE Vernova’s mission to electrify while thriving and decarbonizing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
- Significant experience in the power generation industry and/or energy market financial structures.
- Technical knowledge and experience with one or more of the following electrical technologies: grid systems, medium voltage direct current (MVDC) systems, and power conversion technologies.
Desired Characteristics
- MBA or Masters’ degree is preferred
- A solid understanding of the energy transition as well as the themes of electrification and decarbonization
- Knowledge of industrial systems and/or industrial electrification
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize insights based on analysis of multiple sets of data, and to create summaries that effectively communicate these key insights and associated strategic recommendations
- Innovative, open-minded, and result-oriented thinking with a demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills in English
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work tasks independently as needed, and self-critique / edit work
- Ability to work on global, cross-functional teams
