The Sr. Emerging Technology Engineer is a forward-facing piece of the Digital Customer Assistance Agile Release Train (DCA ART). The Emerging Technology Engineer will be primarily focused on the development, programming and training complex networks of algorithms that will enable artificial intelligence systems to mimic human cognitive functions.

Job Description:

  • Build AI models using machine learning algorithms, deep learning neural networks, and large language models (LLMs). 
  • Research and recommend changes to foundation architecture.
  • Support research projects to identify and evaluate emerging technologies.
  • Interfaces with users and staff to evaluate possible implementation of the new technology in the enterprise, consistent with the goal of improving existing systems and technologies and in meeting the needs of the business.
  • Analyzes and researches process of deployment and assists in this process.
  • Begins to influence department’s strategy.
  • Make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Emerging Technology Engineer key responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and implement cognitive solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Analysis and experimentation
  • Ensure ethical AI and responsible development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field
  • 5 or more years of technical experience
  • 3+ years of experience building and deploying AI/ML models
  • Certifications in Genesys CCaaS, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Proficient in programming (Python, Java, or R)
  • Research experience in emerging technologies
  • 2+ years’ experience with chatbots, IVA, IVR, SMS/Text, or video conferencing
  • 2+ years’ experience with cognitive solutions (chat, co-browse, Fax2Mail, quality/workforce management)
  • Passion for improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in a related field
  • Experience in healthcare or customer assistance platforms
  • Knowledge of ethical AI and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with cloud AI infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience leading or influencing department strategy
  • Certifications in AI/ML or cloud technologies
  • Experience with data privacy and security best practices

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$117,600 - $161,700 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
