About The Role

As a Senior Embedded Engineer, you will design and develop embedded systems used by tens of thousands, focusing on performance, reliability, and real-world conditions.

This is a highly hands-on role, working across software and hardware, including testing, debugging, and running experiments in live environments. You will own solutions end-to-end, from architecture to deployment, and collaborate closely with R&D, customers, and partners.

You’ll play a key role in bridging development and real-world usage, ensuring our systems perform at scale and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Embedded Development: Design and build embedded software for real-world, resource-constrained environments, including RTOS-based architectures and IoT modules, working alongside the cloud services that manage and automate our IoT fleet.
  • Field Deployment: Work hands-on with devices in customer environments, ensuring performance across real-life conditions and varying hardware setups.
  • Testing & Experimentation: Write tests, lead end-to-end validation from device to IoT core, and run experiments to continuously improve reliability and performance.
  • Debugging & Integration: Troubleshoot across hardware, firmware, and networking layers, using datasheets and technical specs to implement and optimize functionality.
  • Collaboration & Ownership: Own solutions end-to-end while partnering with Israel-based R&D, customers, and vendors; document key decisions, experiments, and system behavior.
Requirements
  • Domain Expertise: Strong hands-on experience in embedded systems (C/C++, 5+ years), working close to hardware in real-world environments. BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Execution & Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing projects, including collaboration with outsourced vendors to deliver complex solutions efficiently and on time. Ability to handle ambiguous or undefined problems and think abstractly with strong communication skills.
  • Field & Systems Orientation: Experience working with deployed systems- testing, debugging, and adapting to real-world conditions and different hardware setups. Comfortable running experiments and iterating quickly.
  • Linux & Low-Level Systems: Solid experience with Linux/POSIX systems, encompassing expertise in watchdogs, task preemption, multitasking, software interrupts, priority inversion, drivers, and low-level debugging.
  • Networking & Integration: Good understanding of networking principles and experience integrating embedded devices into broader systems (IoT / cloud).
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl or similar for automation, testing, and system integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with open-source tools and ecosystems
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (IoT Core, serverless architectures)
  • Background in audio or signal processing (e.g., FFT and related concepts)
  • You understand communication protocols like TCP/IP and the OSI model (bonus if you’ve worked with MQTT or Bluetooth).
  • You're experienced in system-level challenges: multitasking, watchdogs, interrupts, low-level drivers, and edge cases like priority inversion.
  • Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and component datasheets
  • Experience working with real-world deployed systems or field environments

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on embedded systems experience using C and C++
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with outsourced vendors
  • Experience testing, debugging, and adapting deployed systems in real-world environments
  • Solid Linux and POSIX systems experience, including watchdogs, task preemption, multitasking, software interrupts, priority inversion, drivers, and low-level debugging
  • Understanding of networking principles and embedded device integration with IoT or cloud systems
  • Proficiency with Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, or similar scripting languages for automation, testing, and integration
  • Experience with open-source tools and ecosystems
  • Hands-on AWS experience, including IoT Core and serverless architectures
  • Audio or signal processing experience, including FFT concepts
  • Experience with TCP/IP, the OSI model, MQTT, or Bluetooth
  • Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and component datasheets
