Simmonds Precision is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Fuels and Prox business engineering team. The senior electrical engineer will design, develop, and validate electromechanical systems for aerospace and defense applications, collaborating across disciplines and leveraging hands-on experience to deliver reliable, high-performance products.
What You Will Do
- Design, simulate, and validate electrical circuits and systems for Fuels and Proximity sensing systems.
- Design and develop switching power supplies and converter technologies
- Perform engineering work for new products to ensure specification, quality standards, and functional objectives are met. This includes researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, systems, and products
- Function as an integral part of a larger electrical engineering design team
- Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines (Project, Systems, Mechanical, and Software), Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to develop an integrated execution plan to satisfy customer requirements
- Resolve technical problems to improve reliability, floor yield, scrap, and performance metrics on existing products in production
- Create engineering documentation for existing and new products
- Adhere to defined electrical engineering processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, proactively identifying areas for improvement.
- Experience with EMI/EMC test plans, strategies, and procedures in accordance with MIL-STD-461 and related industry standards
- Familiarity with environmental qualification standards, specifically MIL-STD-810 and RTCA/DO-160, for aerospace electronic systems
- Understanding of RTCA/DO-254 requirements for the development of airborne electronic hardware
- Utilize test equipment—including oscilloscopes, function generators, and other instrumentation—to support development, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical systems.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Qualifications We Prefer
- Hands-on experience in aerospace product development, including design and integration of electrical or electromechanical systems
- Expertise in PCB design software, including Mentor Graphics, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or Altium Designer with Mentor Graphics strongly preferred.
- Experience with Siemens HyperLynx simulation and analysis software is a plus
- Experience with SPICE Simulation software
The Electrical Manufacturing Technician II independently assembles, tests, and troubleshoots electronic and electromechanical aerospace products. The associate is expected to perform component level troubleshooting on moderately complex CCA / assemblies with limited supervision. For more complex issues, the individual will consult with higher level technical and engineering staff. This role is expected to help drive quality, resolve technical issues, and improve manufacturing processes while supporting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose failures to component or circuit level using schematics and test data
- Interpret complex drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Identify source(s) of defect and assist in establishing root cause and corrective actions with engineering and quality
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards (ESD, IPC, AS9100)
- Maintain accurate and complete production and test documentation
Required Qualifications
- Completed Electrical / Electronic coursework
- 1–3+ years of experience in electronic or aerospace manufacturing
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Proven troubleshooting capability at assembly and circuit level
- Proficiency with test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive problem resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or related field
- Experience in aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting root cause / corrective action (RCCA)
