Job Summary
This position involves the design of electrical power distribution, motor control, lighting, and grounding systems projects of various size, complexity, and criticality. Primarily for water/wastewater and municipal facilities. The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which include interacting with clients and leading electrical projects in collaboration with other engineering professionals across enterprise in a hybrid or remote mode, participating in new business development activities.
In this role, your primary design delivery responsibilities will include conceptual and detailed design development on projects involving low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, selection of equipment and technical specifications preparation, field investigations, development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches, and support of projects during construction, both in the office and in the field.

Responsibilities
- Design low-voltage (typically up to 480V) and medium-voltage (typically up to 15kV) electrical power distribution systems including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, distribution panels, and transformers.
- Oversee the design of conduit, duct bank, and cable tray systems.
- Coordinate the design of lighting systems.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
- Prepare construction specifications for electrical equipment and systems.
- Perform engineering services during construction including submittal review and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
- Carry out short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Plan and track electrical scope, schedule, and budget at the project level.
- Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Mentorship
- May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies
- Competency in electrical power distribution systems design.
- Expertise in motor control systems design.
- Proficiency in the design of conduit, duct bank, and cable tray systems.
- Excellent skills in coordinating with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
Experience
- Typically, a minimum of 5 years related work experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Has achieved or is working towards achieving professional license.
Education
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Preferred Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional registration in California, , Nevada, and/or Arizona.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries.
- Experience in electrical power systems design and specifications including service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, grounding, power distribution, and standby power equipment,
- Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety including, NFPA 70E and NFPA 820.
- Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies and calculations utilizing SKM or ETAP.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Able to multi-task, be enthusiastic, be self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
- Self-starter, results-oriented, takes ownership of their work, and is able to work under tight deadlines and budgets.
- Ability to attend client meetings and site visits for the design and construction of Northern California projects.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $95,000 - $129,000
Location B: $104,000 - $142,000
Location C: $114,000 - $155,000
