Job: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Lenexa, KS

Build Your Future with GBA

At GBA, you'll help design the electrical infrastructure behind facilities that need to perform 24/7, without interruption. Our Mission Critical team works on data centers and telecommunications facilities where reliability, resiliency, redundancy, and thoughtful engineering are essential to keeping critical operations running.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll work alongside architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, and construction professionals to solve highly complex power and infrastructure challenges for leading technology clients. You'll have the opportunity to see projects from concept through construction, influence important technical decisions, and see your designs become operating facilities.

If you're energized by solving difficult problems, designing systems where performance matters, and working with a team that challenges conventional thinking, this is an opportunity to make your expertise count.

Why This Role Matters

The systems you design are the backbone of facilities where downtime is not an option. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll help create reliable and resilient power systems that allow mission critical facilities to operate continuously. From utility service and power distribution to generators, automatic transfer switches (ATSs), UPS systems, and emergency power, your decisions will directly influence facility reliability, safety, maintainability, and long-term performance.

You won't simply produce drawings. You'll help clients solve complex infrastructure challenges, guide project teams, mentor developing engineers, and contribute to solutions that perform when they're needed most.

How You'll Make an Impact

Beyond the technical design itself, your experience will influence clients, strengthen our team, and help shape the long-term performance of the Mission Critical facilities we design.

  • Influence critical design decisions. Bring your experience and engineering judgment to complex challenges where reliability, constructability, cost, and long-term performance all matter.

  • Build client confidence. Become a trusted technical partner who can understand a client's challenges, explain options clearly, and help them make informed decisions.

  • Develop the next generation. Share your knowledge with developing engineers and designers, strengthening both their technical capabilities and the overall team.

  • Raise the bar for technical excellence. Help strengthen quality, consistency, and innovative thinking across Mission Critical projects.

  • See your impact become real. Follow projects from early concepts through construction and see how the systems you helped shape perform in an operating facility.

What You'll Do
  • Provide project leadership for electrical design teams on new construction and renovation projects.
  • Design electrical power systems including switchboards, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATSs), UPS systems, and associated critical infrastructure.
  • Develop medium- and low-voltage power generation and distribution systems.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and support arc flash, coordination, and short-circuit studies.
  • Conduct facility evaluations, assessments, engineering studies, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate directly with clients, owners, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across architectural and engineering disciplines to develop integrated project solutions.
  • Provide project QA/QC and technical review of electrical deliverables.
  • Provide technical direction, oversight, and mentorship to developing engineers and designers.
  • Support projects throughout design and construction while helping ensure solutions meet client expectations and applicable codes and standards.
What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of related electrical engineering experience.

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution and mission critical electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC requirements and other applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience designing or evaluating switchboards, generators, ATSs, UPS systems, and medium- and low-voltage distribution systems.
  • Experience with electrical load calculations and power system studies.
  • Proficiency in Revit is highly desired.
  • Experience with SKM or ETAP is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with a diverse group of clients and coworkers.
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring and developing others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Why You'll Love Working Here

There is something different about designing a facility where every system has to work when it matters most. At GBA, you'll work on technically challenging Mission Critical projects where creativity and engineering judgment matter. You'll collaborate with professionals across design, commissioning, and construction, giving you the opportunity to see how your decisions perform beyond the drawings.

You'll also have the opportunity to share what you know. Whether you're mentoring a developing engineer, working through a difficult design problem with a client, or finding a better way to approach a system, you'll be part of a team that values technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning. Because GBA integrates design and construction expertise, you'll have opportunities to see projects from the earliest concepts through completed facilities.
