Kent is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in Corpus Christi, Texas. 


You will provide project discipline engineering support on project teams towards the successful completion of projects as assigned so that they are successfully completed and meet the objectives.


Skills and Responsibilities:  

Responsibilities:

  • Work with design resources both internally and externally to achieve designs that are cost effective and technically sound so that all projects are designed efficiently, cost effectively, and have operability against the up-front project objectives. 
  • Collaborate and engage all other disciplines either internally or externally towards the successful completion of the project. 
  • Work closely with subcontract engineers and/or designers to coordinate their activities and to ensure the subcontractor's work is checked and the standards and quality are in accordance with standards, guidelines, and customer requirements. 
  • Perform site walks to gather information, confirm project scope and relay to the team. 
  • Prepare or review/approve specifications for purchase of materials and equipment. 
  • Perform periodic design reviews; ensure designs, including all electrical engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations and programs, follow specifications, codes, regulations, and contract requirements. Ensure technical and quality standards are maintained.  
  • Document and maintain all communication that impacts technical decisions. 
  • Assist in reviewing estimates of probable costs for construction at various stages of design. 
  • Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment, technical material suppliers, and technical service providers. 
  • Consult with peers at the site and across the company. 
  • Develop acceptance tests, inspection criteria, equipment preservation plans, and commissioning plans. 
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards. 
  • Utilize SKM or ETAP for Power System Studies.
  • Other duties as required. 

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.


Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:   

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required. 
  • Valid Texas P.E. required. 
  • Ten (10) years or more of relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, or power generation industries is preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across the organization as well as for mentoring and consensus building. 
  • Strong commitment to safety, a high level of personal integrity, and dedication to conduct business in an ethical way. 
  • Exhibits an understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, project management processes, and construction workflow. 
 

Communication:

  • Effective communications skills (written and verbal).

  • Leadership skills, team player, proven multi-tasker with strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to meet assignment schedule & deliver quality products under pressure. 
  • Self-motivated & goal oriented. 
  • Strong computer background including experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
