Your role at a glance
The Senior Electrical Engineer is an advanced subject matter expert, accountable for the overall integration of Standards, System Processes, Design and Construction, and Commissioning efforts.This role is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining the electrical systems that power and support the GDC data center operations.
This role coaches and develops less experienced electrical engineers within the team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Consults on creative solutions to complex electrical problems that arise in design and operation of mission critical systems.
Continuous improvement to come up with better ways to accomplish design intent, meet competitive landscape, and reduce cost.
Research new products, systems, and materials.
Accountable for the development of standard electrical equipment and specifications and developing redundancy schemes that meet the company’s strategic goals.
Networks with the Design Management team to ensure design deliverables meet company strategic goals. Conduct QA/QC of design and documentation, including but not limited to construction drawings and commissioning test scripts.
Represent the organisation with outsourced design consultants to ensure design concepts and product selection align with the organisations strategic goals for developing and operating cost effective, highly efficient, and reliable Data Centres.
Provide expertise to other organisation sectors internal to NTT GDC, including CFOps, Construction, Commissioning, Client Success, and Sales.
Represent General Construction as a Primary Electrical Project Specialist for selected Data Centre sites.
Networks with the Construction team to ensure design deliverables meet project schedules.
Accountable for participating in factory witness testing of new equipment.
Accountable for reviewing and approving of equipment submittals.
Participate in commissioning activities of new data centre phases.
SME for CFOps to troubleshoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design related problems affecting efficient and resilient site operations.
SME for CFOps in review of operating procedures and maintenance initiatives.
Consult on electrical system modelling using AmpCalc, ETAP, and other electrical design software.
Networks with internal Sales Engineering team in analyzing RFPs, responding to RFP questions, conducting training on electrical systems in new buildings, and participating in client site visits.
Consults internal Deployment Services team in reviewing client fit out requirements and systems designs.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Expert Comprehensive knowledge of electrical system design and power distribution in Data Centres.
Expert Comprehensive knowledge of various mission critical topologies such as Distributed Redundant, Block Redundant etc.
Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and supervision and shall be self-motivated to complete the necessary due diligence and gather details as needed to come up with solutions.
Possess expert knowledge of controls and BMS/EPMS Systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA 72 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and other related codes and standards for electrical design of Data Centres.
Knowledge of Life Safety, IBC and OSHA codes and standards.
Strong Understanding of critical Data Centre electrical and mechanical equipment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, electrical engineering software and Bluebeam PDF editing software.
Must be detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment both virtual and in person.
Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals and groups both internally and externally.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Organized and able to set priorities and meet deadlines and budgets
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
Professional Engineering license achievement preferred.
Required Experience:
Advanced experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical Data Centres.
