Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Senior Electrical Engineer, Design Execution

The Senior Electrical Engineer, Design Execution owns complex electrical engineering issues during construction, commissioning, energization, and startup. You will use electrical design, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis expertise to develop practical solutions and drive issues through verified closure. You will apply lessons from field issues to improve designs and standards for active sites and future builds. You will also work across related facility systems and engage the right technical experts when needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Own complex engineering issues during construction, commissioning, energization, and startup, and drive them through verified closure.

  • Review designs at the 30%, 60%, and 90% stages, IFC drawings, submittals, RFIs, and power system studies to identify technical and constructability risks.

  • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and system performance issues, then develop practical remediation plans.

  • Apply lessons from field issues to improve designs, standards, and future builds.

  • Evaluate complex field conditions and develop safe, practical engineering solutions when standard approaches are constrained.

  • Make data-based technical trade-offs that balance safety, reliability, quality, schedule, cost, and constructability.

  • Support Commissioning with load bank and testing strategies based on available power, cooling, equipment, and construction conditions.

  • Provide technical support for permitting and AHJ coordination, including responses to engineering comments and code or design issues.

  • Work across Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Supply Chain, OEMs, and vendors to resolve technical issues affecting project milestones.

  • Evaluate field implementation of new engineering technologies and solutions.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical standards and practical process improvements.

What We’re Looking For
  • You take ownership of complex technical issues and follow them through to verified closure.

  • You make sound engineering decisions using data, field conditions, and known risks.

  • You communicate technical issues clearly and provide the information others need to make decisions.

  • You identify risks early and follow required safety, engineering, and operating protocols.

  • You bring solutions when raising problems and work effectively across teams and technical disciplines.

  • You know when to make an independent technical decision and when to engage another subject matter expert.

  • You share lessons learned and technical knowledge to strengthen the team and improve future work.

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 7–10 years of relevant engineering experience in design, construction support, commissioning, or operations.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including MV and LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, protective relaying, and power system protection.

  • Experience reviewing electrical designs, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies, submittals, RFIs, and equipment technical documentation.

  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, investigating equipment failures, performing root cause analysis, and developing remediation plans.

  • System-level knowledge of electrical equipment and facility infrastructure, including system interactions during construction, testing, and startup.

  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards.

  • Familiarity with mechanical P&IDs and major cooling systems used in mission-critical facilities.

  • Ability to work in the field and travel to project sites as required.

  • PE license or advanced degree is preferred.

If your experience aligns with the core requirements of this role but not every preferred qualification, we encourage you to apply.
