Michael Baker International is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join our Federal Services team in Moon Township, PA. As part of our Federal Buildings practice, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of projects including federal, institutional, industrial, healthcare, higher education, and municipal facilities.
In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, efficient, and sustainable building solutions. You will be responsible for preparing electrical designs, construction documents, calculations, and technical reports while supporting projects through all phases of planning, design, and construction.
The ideal candidate is a motivated electrical engineer with building systems design experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is looking to continue growing their technical expertise and professional career.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare electrical engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and construction documents.
- Develop and maintain electrical designs using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate electrical system designs with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other design disciplines.
- Participate in project planning, design development, construction document preparation, and construction administration activities.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and existing facility assessments.
- Support project managers in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and contractor Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Assist with quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering deliverables.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical support throughout project execution.
- Support the development of proposals, technical approaches, and project presentations as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and EITs while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
- 7+ years of experience designing electrical systems for buildings and facilities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, higher education, federal, or municipal projects.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), energy codes, and industry standards.
- Experience preparing construction drawings, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and reports.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience with electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, lighting design, and power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar electrical analysis software preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Construction administration experience, including shop drawing reviews and RFI responses, preferred.
- Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), industrial facility, or complex building project experience is a plus.
- Ability to travel occasionally to project sites and client locations.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $109,000 to $151,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
