As Sr. Environmental Specialist you will be responsible for monitoring and managing environmental compliance, conducting assessments, and implementing programs to minimize environmental impact. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance are met.

Key Responsibilities

Providing technical direction in support of PPG environmental policies and strategic goals.

Analyze manufacturing processes to identify environmental impacts and propose improvements.

Collaborate with plant management and engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into daily operation and assess environmental risks/mitigation strategies.

Communicate environmental policies and procedures to employees.
-
Monitor and maintain compliance with environmental regulations related to air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste management, and other applicable laws.

Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.

Develop and manage waste minimization strategies, including recycling programs.

Oversee proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, including profiling of new waste; Coordinate with waste disposal contractors to ensure compliance.

Lead all aspects of Title V permits (including managing new permit applications), water permits (Industrial and Stormwater), Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) for a large quantity generator.

Be responsible for compliance with ISO14001 requirements; EPCRA Reporting (SARA 312 and SARA 313) and, driving continuous improvement of the environmental management process.

Develop leading indicators that drive continuous improvement in sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste) and spill incidents.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.

5+ years of experience in an EHS role; Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA.

Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools.
