About the Department and Role
Transfer Desk is a manuscript transfer service, which provides author with a convenient way of resubmitting their manuscript to a more suitable journal. Finding the right journal can be difficult and sometimes sound manuscripts are rejected because they don't precisely match a journal’s aims and scope. Transfer desk team helps authors to leave with a positive experience & encourages them to come back to us in future while giving editors the first choice of new research. They help authors find the most suitable journal, recognizing the scientific merit of their manuscript and ensuring it can be submitted elsewhere within Springer Nature without delay.
Role Responsibilities
- Assess the scope and quality of manuscripts, and find suitable target journals in the Springer Nature portfolio.
- Communicate effectively with authors regarding journal options and the submissions process, and answering queries.
- Work within agreed specifications regarding volumes and timeframes, maintaining internal quality standards.
- Build effective relationships within and outside PP&I and in China offices
- Develop knowledge of, and stay up to date with, the relevant systems and tools.
- Stay up to date with your assigned subject area(s) and with relevant Springer Nature journals, to ensure the relevance of journal suggestions.
- Work with the Submissions Editorial and Operations team and local stakeholders to develop and evolve processes that are optimal for Chinese authors.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- Experience in writing and/or submitting academic papers
- Broad academic interests, with enthusiasm to learn outside of your own subject area
- 1 to 3 years of working experience in scientific publishing is preferred
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English and comfortable with communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven organizational ability and time management skills.
- Proven analytical/critical appraisal skills.
- A high level of computer literacy (including Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Fast learner in regards to both software tools and processes
Qualifications
- MSc / PhD level or equivalent experience in any area of science, technology or medicine
