Job Description:
Bon Appétit and Epicurious are looking for a Senior Editor, Special Projects to join the Content Team. In this role, the Senior Editor will be primarily responsible for ideating and executing ambitious, cooking-centric tentpole packages across our platforms, in addition to smaller-scale cooking/recipe feature stories; and recurring cooking/recipe rubrics. In addition, they will be called upon to contribute to tentpoles for the Drinks and Culture/Global Foodways/Restaurants content verticals, such as the annual Best New Restaurants and Best New Bars lists. They will report into the Content Director, and will also collaborate closely with the Content Team’s Associate Directors and leaders across the brands’ org chart.
Primary Responsibilities:

Generate ideas for multi-platform tentpole cooking packages, features, and smaller-scale stories that align with editorial calendars, themes, and goals.

Execute on those ideas as lead editor and project manager, including building out project plans/outlines; aligning with teams across our brands as necessitated by a story’s distribution plan; assigning and editing text; and broadly shepherding content through all phases of workflow.

Pitch, write, and edit articles, recipe galleries, newsletters, SEO-driven content, and more, across subject areas; across platforms; and as assigned.

Develop recipes, as assigned.

Participate in video, social video, podcasts, and special events, as assigned.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

6+ years experience writing and editing, ideally in journalism, writing, or related fields

Strong demonstrated culinary knowledge and familiarity with food media

Sound editorial judgment; stellar writing and editing skills; understanding of editorial strategy best practices across platforms

A thoughtful, inclusive approach to assigning and editing content
-
Organized, detail-oriented, able to adhere to tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities and projects
-
Ability to communicate well with people across departments (Art, Photo, Test Kitchen, Social, Audience Development), at all levels of the brand, and with freelancers/outside contributors

Knowledge of potential writers and story leads

Knowledge of CMSes across platforms (e.g., Copilot, InCopy/K4) and project management tools (e.g., Asana, AirTable, Google Workspace)
This is a guild position.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $92,500-$121,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
