What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023! In this Product Manager role, you’ll be joining a growing Product team focused on customer empathy and building the next generation of observability tools.

Who We Are
How We Work
We are a remote-first company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote
We can hire for this position in the United States and Canada
We are open to Senior or Staff leveling for this role
What You’ll Do:
- You’ll own driving the work and outcomes in our telemetry space, including layering differentiating value on top of open standards, building a telemetry pipeline for more than just sampling, illuminating customer telemetry in our UI, as well as shepherding and maintaining our instrumentation SDKs, libraries, agents, probes, and Kubernetes operators.
- You’ll foster our commitment to open standards, including participating in the broader OpenTelemetry community.
- You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities for getting events into Honeycomb as easily as possible and lowering barriers to entry for customers of all shapes and sizes.
- You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and design in a triad-based working model.
- You’ll understand the whole developer experience space at Honeycomb and how telemetry fits together with it and the wider organization.
- You’ll build relationships and facilitate impactful technical conversations across the company, including partnering with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success. Staying close to folks in the field is a high priority for this role. Troubleshooting and problem-solving on the fly is a key aspect for keeping prospects engaged.
- You’ll naturally gravitate toward empathetically understanding users, what pains them and pleases them, and you’ll be relentless in advocating for their best interests in the product.
- You’ll be taking directional guidance from key stakeholders and using it as the basis for chartering your own product discovery adventures.
- You’ll contribute to a community of practice with your fellow Product Managers, fostering a culture of cohesion and knowledge-sharing.
- You'll align field and product engineering behind your vision, increasing measurable customer outcomes, and being recognized as an SME for the organization.
About You:
- You’re endlessly curious - a proactive problem solver. You seek data to inform your decision-making and allow that to inform how you prioritize work. You never stop asking questions and you seek answers from your customers, your colleagues and your own research.
- You’re a thoughtful communicator and product leader. We see clear and regular communication (including a willingness to give and receive feedback) as a fundamental skill, not just a nice to have — and we hope you do too. This role sits at the intersection of several teams and our users, making communication especially important.
- You are equally at home setting a vision and identifying small pieces of value that can be delivered iteratively and quickly. You enjoy shepherding product work through its entire lifecycle, from early prototype to GA.
- You find ambiguity inspiring and are driven to navigate your way through it to a place of clarity. You value making space for learning before pushing toward a solution.
- You’re comfortable and interested in technically complex spaces, whether it’s a background being a developer yourself, a history working on Open Source projects, or a history in technical SaaS products. A strong preference to have experience working in or as a user of tracing, metrics, monitoring, or analytics software.
- You’re excited to build the next generation of tracing technology!
