  • Lead Optimistically by Championing Growth and Development to Mobilize the Enterprise.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to: Head, Analytics, MD&O

3 best things about the job:

  • Handling confidential data, providing inputs/guidance to C-suite on decisions that directly impact org strategy & profitability
  • Immense learning opportunities, freedom to ask the right questions and question answers
  • Something new everyday: wide variety in nature of work requests involving both market & org data – tracking key business deliverables, analysing market developments (eg impact of Disney-Reliance merger, NTO), establishing frameworks (digital IO inflation, prop media benchmarks), tracking media publisher revenue, analysing viewership/audience trends, etc.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • Understand the org structure, workflow between WPPM, portfolios and other BUs, your role and set KPIs in discussion with your manager
  • Get familiar with reports produced by the team and your SOW
  • Ensure that vlookups /classification/mapping are maintained properly (i.e. are accurate and updated regularly)

In six months:

  • Review & supervise the team’s tasks & deliverables; ensure 100% data accuracy & 100% adherence to timelines on critical deliverables
  • Understand how the different types of data maintained by Analytics finds application in company strategy; understand the inter-relations between data

In 12 months:

  • Work independently on tasks, ad-hoc requests without manager’s support
  • Anticipate problems/issues on the above, think about additional perspectives that may be useful and build it into the solution/deck
  • Stay updated with industry trends: economy, regulation, media, tech, consumer (audience) trends, etc.
  • Combine the above to create top quality work: i.e. work that has considered available data, covered all perspectives, triangulated different data points to ratify results (data interpretation/insights) and has attempted to answer as many questions as possible

What your day job looks like with Team Analytics:

  • Reviewing steps followed by the team in data cleaning, compiling & checking – help the team develop logic checks
  • Working on benchmarks: applying the right logic to arrive at appropriate benchmarks, using market trends/intelligence/other data sources to inform the logic
  • Inflation: review market & WPPM inflation data to assess YTD inflation
  • Track key buying metrics, develop new reports/dashboards
  • Work on short reads/whitepapers that clearly outline the impact of developments in tech/regulatory/consumer behaviour on media, and therefore WPPM

What you’ll bring:

Skill and will! And humility. And a sense of humour, if possible.

  • Strong logical thinking + strong inclination to question given wisdom, assumptions – the most important criterion
  • Meticulous attention to detail: catching errors in numbers/data & faulty logic, ability to check one’s own work & of the team’s
  • Willingness to go beyond the immediate task: asking the ‘so what’ question - how the data insight impacts the bigger picture
  • Comfortable leading a team who may be from very different backgrounds

Minimum qualifications:

  • Graduate degree
  • 10 years + of full-time media planning work experience dominated by TV but with good understanding of Print, Radio & Digital – preferred, but not a deal-breaker
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Good communication: correct grammar, succinct sentences – yes, it’s a deal breaker
  • Proficiency in Excel & Powerpoint: should be comfortable using formulae and working on ppts - mandatory
  • Proficiency in use of media applications (BMW/YUMI, Radio Audience Measurement)
