This role will serve as a media strategist and communications leader for a portfolio of clients expanding in scope and scale.

We're looking for a highly responsive communicator and leader with a sharp understanding of political and media landscapes - someone with exceptional attention to detail who can operate as a trusted strategic advisor to client teams, anticipate needs, and elevate the impact of the work, while also inspiring and leading junior staff. This is a high-visibility opportunity to build, innovate, and establish yourself as a leader.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in integrated corporate communications campaigns, pitching reporters and news outlets, growing relationships across the media and political ecosystems, and a sharp understanding of today’s media and political dynamics. Prior experience on clients in the energy and technology spaces is preferred.

This is a hybrid role based in our office in the Woodlands, TX, Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. The position requires occasional travel.

Strategic Leadership

  • Drive strategic integration across client workstreams, identifying opportunities to scale and evolve the work in real time, and champion innovation in communications tactics, including new approaches to stakeholder engagement, content, influencers, communications, and media relations
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, producers, editors, journalists, and influencers, including demonstrated experience pitching and engaging reporters nationally and locally.
  • Support media relations strategy for clients navigating policy, regulatory, and reputational challenges.
  • Secure earned media placements and help shape narratives that resonate with priority audiences.
  • Oversee client workstreams and content development, including thought leadership pieces and interviews to advance the client goals.

Client Relationship & Counsel

  • Serve as a senior thought partner and day-to-day client contact, offering forward-looking counsel grounded in political insight, stakeholder dynamics, and campaign performance, while staying responsive to client needs and nurturing and growing the client relationship to support broader business goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Build and foster strong working relationships with client counterparts and external partners to ensure seamless coordination and execution, including staffing client events that sometimes require travel, providing logistical and on-the-ground support.
  • Help identify and cultivate new growth opportunities within the client account, contributing to its long-term expansion.
  • Maintain high client satisfaction by anticipating needs and producing tangible results.

Team & Business Development

  • Mentor junior staff to support strong execution and professional growth.
  • Contribute to LSG's media service offerings by identifying best practices and operational improvements.
  • Support business development through proposal writing, pitching, brainstorming, and identifying new opportunities

  • Establish and maintain best-in-class standards for responsiveness, quality control, and attention to detail across all deliverables and team outputs, including the development of high-quality communications materials — messaging documents, talking points, lawmaker letters, ad copy, and press materials such as press releases, op-eds, LTEs, social media content, etc.
  • Lead the development and delivery of client reporting (written and verbal), including the management of weekly reports, key metrics, and client presentations.

  • Prior experience working in an agency setting is a plus.
  •  An understanding of federal and state legislative and political landscapes, particularly in energy and technology, is a plus.
  • Proven writing and editing capabilities to support the development of various high-quality materials, including proposals, PowerPoints, messaging materials, talking points, letters, op-eds/LTEs, social media content, media advisories, press releases, and corporate statements.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft sharp, persuasive messaging.
