Position Summary: The Senior Director of Total Rewards is responsible for developing and overseeing comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This role involves designing competitive salary structures, managing employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, all while aligning reward strategies with the organization's overall business objectives. The Director also collaborates with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives and enhance employee satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive total rewards strategy aligned with the organization's goals, culture, and budgetary constraints.
  • Analyze total rewards market trends, industry benchmarks, best practices, and internal equity to ensure competitiveness and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Prepare analyses, materials, and recommendations to senior leadership as requested.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of total rewards programs, including base/variable pay, equity-based compensation, health insurance and wellness programs, leave administration, 401(k) administration, and other perks.
  • Conduct salary surveys and benchmarking to ensure competitive pay structures.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other leadership to establish pay philosophies and guidelines that align with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Evaluate benefit offerings to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and employees' needs.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Oversee payroll operations, including the development of payroll policies and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely processing, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Manage payroll transactions taxes, deductions, and collaborate with the finance team on budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage, inspire, and develop the Total Rewards team members towards operational excellence.
  • Keep the Total Rewards team informed of any key business, legal, and staffing changes or initiatives.
  • Communicate with the organization regarding changes or updates to the organization's total rewards programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a total rewards function administering compensation and benefit programs.
  • Experience setting organization-wide strategy and driving operational execution/results in a mid-size to a large company.
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit and employment laws (ERISA, Section 125, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Experience leading open enrollment efforts at an enterprise level specifically for a self-insured organization.
  • Experience with 401(k) plan administration.
  • Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders without "dropping the ball."
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, team-oriented environment and have a "roll up your sleeves" and "win every day" mentality.
  • Hold oneself accountable and responsible while being self-driven in accomplishing goals.
  • Detail-oriented and can focus on the task at hand by finding the most efficient and effective pathway to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels to communicate with internal and external stakeholders articulately.
  • Ability to logically connect ideas, scrutinize and evaluate arguments, find inconsistencies and errors in work, and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to provide timely and empathetic service through all communication channels keeping peer and customer needs first.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

  • Professional certification such as FPC, CCP, PHR, and/or SHRM-CP.

  • No travel required.

  • Additional hours may be required (exempt positions).


Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
