The Job

We are looking for a Senior Director of Software Engineering to grow, develop and lead one of our core product’s engineering teams and initiatives. You will report to the SVP of Engineering and be part of a global engineering leadership team. You will lead the building of scalable, extensible, reliable, and performant systems that provide significant company and industry-level impact. Your Day-to-Day Role

  • Grow and structure one of the core product’s engineering teams in TLV, NJ, and IND sites- Build a strong team that delivers innovative best-in-class software. 
  • Design, architect, and build performant, reliable, high-quality systems at scale within one or more engineering domains. Provide significant engineering contribution even in domains with less expertise
  • Set Engineering standards and best practices and promote the required changes 
  • Work cross-functionally with product managers, and cross-functional engineers to deliver high-quality products
  • Function as a sought-out mentor and leader for a technical domain or set of domains.  Act as a role model for every engineer in your team and promote Own company engineering values
  • Enhance technical capabilities for yourself and your team. Conduct training, write documentation, and mentor to reduce onboarding time for new and existing members
  • Identify and promote technology opportunities through presentations, technical specs, and documentation.

Your Work Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a similar industry or technology space
  • Minimum of 5 years leading Global Engineering Groups and managing managers
  • Significant programming expertise and exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker with a continuous improvement mindset. 
  • Experience coaching, leading, and hiring a top-performing team 
  • Goal driven - manage according to goals and objectives, use Data to support your decision-making
  • Dynamic, Motivated attitude and desire to work in a results-oriented and deadline-driven environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Deep understanding and domain expertise in building large, complex distributed, and/or data-driven systems from inception to launch.  Extensive experience pushing multiple product releases and/or feature iterations, with an eye towards scalability, reliability, cost, and optimization
  • Knowledgeable in Agile methodologies and scrum, understand the Agile “being” and not only the “doing”
  • Able to own and resolve engineering and company issues, plan and execute solutions, identify opportunities, and proactively prevent risks.
  • Adept at effectively communicating with external customers about critical production issues, as well as working with internal stakeholders from OwnBackup’s customer success and support teams to propose and implement immediate fixes and resolution plans

Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Tel Aviv office a minimum of 3 days a week and willing to travel once a quarter to maximize interaction with the business.
