Thanks for your interest in Oklo!  We are searching for a Senior Director of Power Origination to join our team.

Position Description

The Senior Director of Power Origination is Oklo's primary commercial dealmaker for power offtake. You will build and manage the customer pipeline for Aurora powerhouse projects — identifying, qualifying, negotiating, and executing power purchase agreements with AI datacenters, hyperscalers, utilities, industrial customers, and government buyers. You report to the VP of Origination and work in close coordination with the Directors of Land & Real Estate and Market Analytics, as well as Oklo's Finance team on project finance bankability.

Specific responsibilities may include:

Customer Pipeline & Business Development

  • Support Oklo's power offtake pipeline from initial outreach through signed PPA across all customer segments
  • Develop and execute origination strategy for AI datacenters, hyperscalers, C&I industrials, utilities, and federal/DoD buyers
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with power procurement leads at priority customers
  • Manage a structured CRM pipeline covering all active opportunities from first contact to executed agreement in partnership with Oklo’s Business Development team
  • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with utility offtakers — including IOU power procurement executives, municipal utility resource planning leads, and electric cooperative CEOs — to build durable commercial pipelines for Aurora powerhouse output

PPA Negotiation & Execution

  • Lead negotiation of long-term PPAs, tolling agreements, and energy services contracts for Aurora powerhouse projects
  • Work closely with Legal to develop Oklo's standard PPA template, negotiate commercial terms, and manage contract execution
  • Structure offtake arrangements that are bankable for project finance — coordinating with Oklo's Finance team and lenders on required contract terms and credit support

Market Positioning

  • Partner with Director of Market Analytics on competitive pricing strategies and customer-specific value analyses
  • Develop customer-facing materials: pitch decks, term sheets, RFP responses, and technical briefings
  • Track competitive corporate PPA and utility offtake landscape, including bilateral nuclear deals and emerging clean firm power products

Utility Offtaker Relationships

  • Build and sustain a dedicated utility offtaker relationship program spanning investor-owned utilities (IOUs), public power authorities, electric cooperatives, and municipal utilities across Oklo’s target markets
  • Serve as Oklo’s senior point of contact for utility RFP processes, integrated resource planning (IRP) engagements, and state regulatory dockets where Aurora powerhouse supply is relevant
  • Negotiate and execute utility-scale PPAs and long-term supply agreements, coordinating with Legal and Oklo’s Finance team on regulatory approvals, FERC jurisdictional matters, and rate-base or cost-of-service considerations
  • Track utility load forecasts, resource adequacy filings, and clean energy procurement targets to identify and prioritize the highest-probability utility offtake opportunities across the Aurora powerhouse pipeline

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in power origination, energy commercial development, or structured energy sales — with a direct track record closing long-term PPAs
  • Demonstrated experience selling to at least two of: AI datacenters / hyperscalers, C&I industrials, IOUs, or federal agencies
  • Deep familiarity with PPA structures, energy contract terms, and bankability requirements for project-financed generation assets
  • Strong negotiation skills; experience leading commercial discussions at C-suite and VP level
  • Ability to translate complex nuclear technology into clear commercial value propositions

Competencies

We are looking for a Senior Director of Power Origination that is:

  • Passionate about clean energy
  • Passionate about making advanced fission a reality
  • Willing and able to learn quickly
  • Eager to work on a dynamic team, receive constructive feedback, and grow with us
  • Willing to think differently and do things in new ways
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment
  • Excited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving, while not leaning only on what has been done before
  • Willing to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problems
  • An excellent writer who can write in modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well!
  • Able to communicate technical content and results verbally

Who you are:

A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. You don't need or expect to have a lot of guidance but you enjoy working in a fast-paced team. If you prefer the culture and feel of a large organization, that is great, but you likely won’t enjoy working with us! There is plenty of important work and plenty of good opportunities with organizations like that.

Motivated: You are self-motivated. You bring an enthusiasm to the team, and imbue a sense of passion that goes beyond clocking in and clocking out. This isn’t about a fake or arbitrary “pieces of flair” mentality or lack of work-life balance! It is about being a part of the vision and feeling a part of reaching team goals.

A team-player: Oklo genuinely is a team. We aren’t about taking credit for ourselves, and we aren’t about pushing blame to others. We do incredible things because we work as a team.

An excellent communicator: We need a person who is not only technically competent but also a clear and upbeat communicator.

Creative: Being creative means that when things fall outside clear scopes or processes or problems arise without clear solutions, you are able to identify it as well as invent ways to solve a problem or fill a need without micromanagement. The successful person in this job will not only be creative, but also enjoy being creative and solving open-ended problems which may change day-by-day.

Detail-oriented: This focus is a big part of excellence, consistency, and quality. Excellent grammar and spelling matter for both good communication as well as the image of the company that we put forward.
