As demand for advanced surgical and procedural services continues to grow, we are hiring a Senior Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Perioperative Services, including Main OR, Capital Pavilion OR and GI/Endoscopy, CVOR, Sterile Processing, ACU, PACU, Surgical Annex, Pre-Admission Testing, Pre-Operative Readiness & Evaluation, and Anesthesia.Provides administrative and nursing leadership to embrace and elevate high performing teams. Lead multi-disciplinary leaders managing the delivery of patient care, or to a significant sized nursing team that operates across multiple campuses/affiliates. Participates in system-sponsored nursing and other relevant initiatives, establishing goals and standards to support patient care initiatives and to ensure the delivery of high-value quality care and achievement of common objectives. Develops and fosters a solid partnership with physicians, medical staff and Sutter Health leaders, and employees to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives, to resolve operational challenges and/or to improve processes. Works with senior leadership to develop and establish short- and long-term strategic plans that complement system, operating unit or affiliate goals and initiatives, including business, operations, and/or organizational priorities. Sets priorities to align with business objectives and annual plan. Establishes the direction of policies and procedures, and sets out a structure for providing safe, consistent, and effective patient care. Establishes overall operating and capital budget with input from management team, ensuring financial targets are achieved and variances are addressed in a timely manner. Enhancing access to surgical and procedural care needs and driving growth through close partnership with SMCS and service line leadership. Optimizing throughput, block utilization, asset management, and patient access with a focus on quality and data-driven performance improvement. Supporting Directors in day-to-day operations, staff engagement, and team development, while aligning near-term plans with long-term capital and equipment needs. Establishing clear operational governance and streamlined decision-making to accelerate execution of growth strategies and maintain a competitive edge in the regional marketplace.
Job Description:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's: BSN: Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field. or equivalent education/experience
- Master's: MSN Preferred
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- RN-Registered Nurse of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 15 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Demonstrates clinical proficiency and knowledge to effectively plan and coordinate patient care consistent with applicable standards and regulations.
- Understanding of clinical operations and workflows, and how operational process/workflow impacts other department operations.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of health care laws, licensing and accreditation requirements, and clinical standards of practice with the ability to interpret and implement applicable requirements to ensure operational compliance.
- Knowledge of emerging treads and regulatory changes, and how it impacts operations.
- Business acumen, demonstrating ability to establish goals and standards to meet long and short- term objectives and make sound business decisions.
- Demonstrates credible leadership presence with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority; and the ability to engage others.
- Demonstrates familiarity with various methods of care delivery and quality improvement concepts.

Pay Range is $113.77 to $182.03 / hourThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
