The Role

You will:

Set and implement a strategic direction for all data reporting, compliance, and accountability by building systems that support E.L. Haynes leaders in using data to inform their decisions and ensuring the organization remains compliant with the policies set forth by the Office of the State Superintendent (OSSE) and the Public Charter School Board (PCSB). This 12-month, full-time role reports to the Chief Academic Officer, and directly manages the Data Analysis Manager and Data Systems Manager. You will be instrumental in visioning, designing, and executing the organization’s approach to data management and accountability. 


Data Vision and Strategy

  • Set the organizational goals for data systems, use, and analysis, in collaboration with the Chief Academic Officer and Chief Executive Officer
  • Set the vision and strategy for data dissemination to internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, school leaders, Board members, OSSE, and PCSB.

Data Systems Knowledge Management

  • Create structures and systems for managing all student information and organizational data (e.g. organizational dashboard, Infinite Campus, ASPIRE Framework, etc.)
  • Ensure consistent business processes and rules are applied to manage all data systems

Organizational Compliance and Accountability

  • Develop systems to ensure quality in reporting and data analyses to provide accurate and timely information to city-wide systems and partners
  • Ensure successful data validation for all DC and federal reporting requirements
  • Facilitate compliance processes organization-wide to ensure E.L. Haynes meets OSSE, PCSB, and other city-wide deadlines and requirements

Data Team Management

  • Lead vision-setting for E.L. Haynes Data and Accountability Team and ensure team and team members achieve annual goals and milestones
  • Manage the Data Team, including the Data Systems Manager and Data Analysis Manager as well as periodic interns and organizational partners (as needed)
  • Ensure the Data Team provides exceptional customer service support to all internal and external stakeholders

Organizational Performance Management (Sr. Director only)

  • Lead creation and ongoing reporting for the E.L. Haynes organizational dashboard, including annual goals and metrics aligned to priority areas in the strategic plan
  • Facilitate quarterly data reviews with senior leaders and the Chief Academic Officer team to assess instructional and organizational progress and identify concrete next steps for continuous improvement
  • Manages the strategic planning process for the Chief Academic Officer Team
  • Facilitate senior leaders to share out progress aligned to annual strategic priorities
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Commitment to educational equity and E.L. Haynes’s mission
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in K-12 education and/or data analysis roles (10-12 years of experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 
  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas and findings in oral and written communication to diverse audiences
  • Strong data analysis skills; ability to combine multiple data sources and summarize data clearly and simply using analytical tools such as: Power BI, Excel, SQL, Python
  • attention to detail; demonstrated reliability and accuracy in data cleaning and validation projects
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to help individuals clarify their needs
  • Desire for feedback; commitment to self-development and to improving skills
  • Systematic approach to problem solving
  • Self-directed, self-starter with a willingness to own high-priority tasks and projects
  • Effective project manager with ability to drive projects to completion and comfort managing multiple priorities amid high ambiguity

  • Knowledge of schools and the conditions that drive strong academic outcomes of schools, including the levers to creating a high-quality school
