About the Senior Director of Operations & Production Role: 

The Senior Director of Operations & Production is a key leadership role responsible for unifying production, operations, and technology to deliver exceptional, complex programming across BRIC’s platforms and venues. This position shapes operational strategy and ensures the systems, teams, and infrastructure are in place to bring ambitious artistic work to life.

What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Senior Director of Operations & Production will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Chief Operating Officer:

Strategic Leadership & Integration

  • Set and drive a cohesive strategic vision across Production, Operations, Media Operations and, Engineering,  Technology , ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and programmatic goals.
  • Lead cross-functional planning to ensure seamless execution across live, hybrid, and facility-based programming.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve communication, and increase operational efficiency across teams.
  • Partner with senior leadership on long-term planning, resource allocation, and organizational strategy.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team culture.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient operations.

Departmental Oversight (Production, Operations & IT)

  • Provide high-level oversight and provide strategic support of Production, Operations, Media Operations and Engineering, and Technology departments, ensuring strong coordination across venues, programs, and systems.
  • Oversee various team leads on above mentioned departments setting priorities around infrastructure, systems, and organizational technology needs.
  • In conjunction with department leads, guide department leads in planning, staffing, budgeting, and execution of key initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between technical production needs, facilities operations, and IT/network capabilities.
  • Identify and implement AI tools to improve operational efficiency and streamline cross-functional workflows. 
  • Ensure all departments support programing across BRIC venues (including BCB) ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution across all programming.
  • Ensure strong coordination across operations and production for events, rentals, and public programs.
  • Support organizational oversight of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! (BCB) by ensuring strong coordination across Production, Operations, and Technology functions. 

You’ll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:

  • Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for BRIC’s support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity.
  • Experience. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education with relevant work experience. 5-7+ years of management experience in live events. Excellent overall knowledge of the live performance production processes and standards. Experience with virtual and hybrid events.
  • Additional Experience. 
    • Understanding of technical workflow, equipment and operational labor.
    • Strong supervisory skills for overseeing personnel with a wide range of talent and experience
    •  Working knowledge of technical aspects of production with ability to solve technical problems.
    •  Understanding of theatrical audio, lighting, and video networking systems.
    • Ability to create and maintain operational budgets and spreadsheets.
    • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, artists, vendors, technicians and guests.
    • Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
    • Knowledge of safety standards for local, state, OSHA, and other federal guidelines.
    • Skilled in Vectorworks, Lightwright, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Online presentation software, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven team leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization, effectively interact with artists, vendors, technicians and guests, and provide feedback and coaching to support the achievement of goals. Highly skilled communicator and relationship builder.

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. 
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office. 
  • Benefits: BRIC has a comprehensive benefits package, including: paid time off, 403B retirement plan pre-tax transit cards, medical flexible spending plans and more. BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
