About Tekmetric

Tekmetric is the all-in-one, cloud-based software helping auto repair shops run smarter, grow faster, and serve customers better.
Built by a shop owner and shaped by the needs of the industry, Tekmetric brings together innovation, real-world experience, and a thriving community to help shops thrive - not just survive. From running a shop, to securing payments to engaging customers, our platform simplifies operations so shop owners can focus on what really matters: delivering exceptional service, earning trust, and growing sustainably.

Officially founded in Houston in 2017, Tekmetric has grown from a single shop’s vision to the industry’s leading solution - all by staying true to our values of transparency, integrity, innovation, and a service-first mindset.
But we’re not just building shop management software. We’re building a movement. We’re empowering repair shops to rise above the daily grind, create meaningful connections with their customers, and lead the industry forward - one interaction at a time.

Come build with us. Join the journey. Shape the future of auto repair.

Working the Tekmetric Way

At Tekmetric, we’re building a culture where winning matters - not for ego, but because when our customers win, we win together.

We move fast, stay curious, and take full ownership of our results — no excuses, no finger-pointing. If you thrive in ambiguity, take initiative, and view honest feedback as fuel for growth, you’ll feel right at home here.

We’re direct but respectful, ambitious yet grounded, and collaborative at every level. Everyone leads through impact and is encouraged to speak up, share ideas, and challenge assumptions (even your manager’s). This is a place for builders, not bystanders.

Success here takes focus, follow-through, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves — but if you’re driven by meaningful work and real results, it’s deeply rewarding. You’ll join a team that cares about the work, supports one another, and takes smart risks to achieve bold goals. Be yourself, stay mission-focused, and you’ll thrive. If that energizes you, we can’t wait to meet you.

Where We Work: At Tekmetric, great work happens anywhere, but great teams are built through intentional connection. We offer hybrid and remote work models based on your proximity to our office hubs. Because we value in-person collaboration, travel is an expected part of every role. We come together several times a year for team and company-wide offsites to align on goals and strengthen relationships. Attendance at these events is expected and fully supported.

About the Role

Tekmetric is building the first OEM repair guide ever integrated directly into a shop management system: the right factory procedure, specification, and diagram, in the technician’s workflow, the moment it’s needed, across every make a shop sees.

That ambition lives or dies on content. Roughly 54 vehicle brands sell cars in the United States, and each controls its own service information under its own licensing terms. The Senior Director, OEM Content & Strategy owns acquiring that content: deciding which manufacturers to pursue and in what order, winning over the right people inside each OEM, negotiating the commercial and licensing terms, and making sure what we license shows up in the product completely and faithfully.

This is a senior strategy and deal-making role with executive visibility, and the face of Tekmetric to the OEM service-information community. You will work closely with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Finance, but this is not a product management role: the product teams own what we build; you own the content we build it from and the relationships that make it possible.

What You’ll Do

Own the OEM acquisition strategy

  • Build and maintain the roadmap for acquiring service information from the ~54 brands sold in the US: which manufacturers, in what sequence, and why, weighing vehicle parc in our customers’ shops, deal feasibility, and strategic signal.
  • Set quarterly acquisition targets and report pipeline, progress, and blockers to the CEO and executive team.
  • Track Right to Repair, NASTF, and the OEM service-information landscape and turn it into leverage and timing.

Open the doors

  • Map each OEM’s decision structure and identify who actually controls service-information licensing.
  • Build relationships from cold introduction to signed agreement, representing Tekmetric at NASTF, SEMA, AAPEX, and OEM events.
  • Position our integrated repair guide as a new distribution channel for OEM procedures, not a competitor to the OEM’s own service-information business.

Negotiate and close licensing deals

  • Lead end-to-end commercial negotiation of OEM content agreements: pricing, content scope, update cadence, delivery format, territory, and term.
  • Partner with Legal on the full agreement: terms of service, redistribution and display rights, derivative-work rights, attribution, audit and compliance, and indemnification.
  • Lead negotiation of AI usage rights: the terms under which Tekmetric may index, summarize, retrieve, and generate against licensed content. Develop and win acceptance of our standard and fallback positions on fair use of AI with OEM data.
  • Build reusable deal infrastructure (master template, term-sheet playbook, negotiation record) so each OEM gets faster.

Get the content into the product, completely and correctly

  • Work directly with Product and Engineering on how each OEM’s content is delivered, ingested, structured, and displayed, and shepherd each OEM from signature to live.
  • Own content fidelity: verify that the full scope and structure of what we licensed (procedures, specifications, diagrams, TSBs, wiring, labor data) is represented accurately and usably in Tekmetric.
  • Run the quality process: coverage checks against the agreement, update-currency monitoring, defect reporting to the OEM, and compliance with display and attribution terms.

Keep what we win

  • Own renewal strategy and negotiations for every OEM agreement, including repricing, scope expansion, and renegotiation of AI rights as the product and market evolve.
  • Manage the relationship between deals: usage reporting, compliance attestations, executive touchpoints, and early warning on license risk.
  • Define the operating model and resourcing needed to run a 54-brand portfolio at scale.
What You’ll Bring

This role is for someone who has already done this. We are looking for a track record of acquiring and licensing OEM service information and getting it into a shipping product, not potential.

  • 15+ years in the automotive repair-information or vehicle-data industry (repair-information provider, diagnostics or data aggregator, or an OEM’s aftermarket-licensing group), including 5+ years in a director-level or above role whose primary charter was OEM relations and business development.
  • Personal ownership of strategic relationships with 15 or more vehicle manufacturers, spanning domestic, European, and Asian brands, and the ability to speak to each: who you dealt with, where it stuck, how you got to yes.
  • A history of negotiating and renegotiating multi-year, multi-million-dollar content and data agreements (licensing deals, MSAs, DaaS contracts) on both the buy and sell side.
  • Standing relationships with service-information and licensing decision-makers inside multiple OEMs, and credibility in the forums where they gather (NASTF, SEMA, AAPEX, Auto Care Association).
  • Deep working knowledge of OEM service information: how manufacturers author, structure, and publish procedures, specifications, wiring, TSBs, and labor data; the delivery formats and portals in use; and what complete coverage looks like for a brand.
  • Ability to negotiate the whole agreement, not just price: redistribution and display rights, derivative-work rights, update obligations, audit and compliance, and indemnification, as a true partner to counsel.
  • A clear, current point of view on AI and licensed content: the difference between indexing, retrieval, summarization, and generation; what OEMs will and won’t accept today; and readiness to negotiate AI usage rights into agreements.
  • Experience delivering licensed or proprietary data into SaaS and DaaS products alongside engineering teams, and verifying its completeness and fidelity in production.
  • Executive presence and the ability to operate autonomously at the CEO’s side: set a strategy, defend it, report candidly, adjust when the market moves.
  • Deep respect for the independent repair shop and the technician.
  • Ability to travel frequently, including multi-day trips to OEM headquarters and occasionally abroad.
Nice to Have
  • Prior leadership at Mitchell 1, ALLDATA, Identifix/Solera, MOTOR, or a comparable repair-information business, or inside an OEM’s service-information or licensing group.
  • Working familiarity with Right to Repair legislation, the OEM–aftermarket MOU, and NASTF’s Secure Data Release Model.
  • Experience launching new data or information products and new revenue lines from zero, including first partnerships and first playbooks.
  • Intellectual-property experience (patents, proprietary data assets) in the automotive aftermarket.
  • Technician background (ASE or I-CAR) or time spent in and around independent repair shops.
