Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is seeking an accomplished, strategic, and data-driven marketing leader to serve as Senior Director of Marketing & Audience Development.


Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Guest Services, this role leads the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive ticket sales, subscription growth, and audience engagement across more than 120 concerts each season.  

This is a highly collaborative leadership role that sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, overseeing day-to-day marketing operations, guiding a high-performing team, and partnering across departments to strengthen the full patron journey and expand the DSO’s reach and impact. 

Key Responsibilities 

Campaign Strategy & Marketing Leadership 

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across all DSO programming, including Classical, Pops, Holiday, and Special concerts 
  • Establish campaign strategies, messaging frameworks, audience targeting, and channel mix 
  • Ensure brand consistency and alignment across all marketing materials and platforms 
  • Partner closely with Creative Services to align brand strategy with creative execution 

Subscription Growth & Audience Development 

  • Drive the evolution of subscription and membership strategies, including fixed and flexible packages 
  • Lead patron retention, loyalty, and lifecycle marketing initiatives 
  • Leverage CRM data and audience insights to inform segmentation, targeting, and offer development 

Performance Analytics & Revenue Management 

  • Partner with analytics team members to build reporting frameworks and track KPIs 
  • Translate performance data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations 
  • Oversee post-campaign analysis and continuous improvement processes 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set and manage revenue goals and marketing budgets 

Partnership & Growth Marketing 

  • Develop strategic partnerships with community organizations, cultural institutions, and brands 
  • Activate cross-promotions, audience development initiatives, and community engagement campaigns 
  • Identify new audience segments and pathways for growth 

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Lead and develop a team of marketing professionals across digital marketing, group sales, analytics, and retail 
  • Establish clear workflows, priorities, and performance expectations 
  • Collaborate closely with Communications & Media, Creative Services, Guest Services & Ticketing, Development, and People & Culture 
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives that strengthen audience engagement and community connection 

Vendor & Agency Management 

  • Manage relationships with external agencies and marketing partners 
  • Set expectations, evaluate performance, and ensure alignment with campaign goals 
  • Oversee agreements and vendor strategy in partnership with senior leadership 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive marketing experience, including campaign strategy, audience development, and team leadership 

Preferred 

  • Experience in the arts, entertainment, or nonprofit sector 
  • Experience with subscription or membership-based business models 
  • Familiarity with Tessitura or a comparable CRM/ticketing platform 
  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Arts Management, Business, or a related field preferred
