As the Senior Director of Indirect Procurement at Ciena, this role shapes how the company sources, partners, and invests across the enterprise. As a key leader within the global Procurement organization, the position drives transformation, elevates Procurement’s strategic impact, and enables measurable value through world-class practices. How you will make an impact:
Lead and develop a global Indirect Procurement organization, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Represent Indirect Procurement as a strategic partner to senior leaders and executives, strengthening trust and enterprise alignment.
Define and execute a global Indirect Procurement strategy that optimizes sourcing, supplier management, and governance.
Leverage market intelligence and industry trends to drive thought leadership, mitigate risk, and optimize enterprise spend.
Establish and champion procurement policies, tools, and technologies to improve transparency, efficiency, and compliance.
Partner with Finance and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to deliver annual savings targets aligned to corporate financial goals.
Drive global sourcing, negotiation, and contract management initiatives that strengthen supplier performance and relationships.
The must haves:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field OR Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience: 7+ years of leadership experience in senior procurement roles within a global organization, with demonstrated success in team development and transformation.
Minimum of 20 years of experience in Procurement.
Demonstrated ability to influence and engage senior leaders in complex, matrixed environments to deliver measurable business outcomes.
Polished communicator with experience developing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
Highly collaborative and relationship-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted internal partnerships.
Expertise in supplier negotiation, contract management, and building collaborative supplier relationships.
Proficiency in data analytics and procurement technologies, including Power BI, Oracle, and Excel.
Strong financial acumen with a solid understanding of financial statements and business performance drivers.
Nice to haves:
Certifications: Advanced certifications in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management [CPSM], Certified Supply Chain Professional [CSCP]).
Experience using or implementing source-to-pay technologies, including e-sourcing, Oracle, Coupa, contract lifecycle management tools, or spend analytics.
Proven success leading initiatives in sustainability, supplier diversity, or supplier risk management.
Pay Range:
The salary range for this role in the USA is $181, 000 - $289, 100
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
