A Brief Overview

The Senior Director, Human Resources leads the People Strategy and Human Resources agenda across the manufacturing site in Wisconsin. As the Senior HR partner to site leadership—and a member of both the Site Leadership Team and the GTOPS CORE Leadership Team—this role drives organizational effectiveness, culture, talent development, and workforce planning. The role requires proven success navigating and driving outcomes in a highly matrixed organization, collaborating seamlessly across Technical Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and Corporate HR.The Senior Director oversees all HR operations—including talent management, employee relations, performance, learning, total rewards, talent development, and organizational design—while ensuring compliance with U.S. labor regulations and alignment with GTOPS CORE priorities. The role leads a multi-disciplinary HR team and ensures consistent, high-quality HR support that enables operational and business performance.

What You Will Do

  • Strategic Planning & Organization:
    • Lead the development and implementation of HR strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, records management, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations for site Wisconsin.
  • Leadership:
    • Motivate, develop, and mentor HR staff and leaders across the site.
    • Hire and develop appropriate staff to meet broader organizational objectives.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor to senior leadership.
  • HR Governance:
    • Guide management and employee actions by updating and maintaining policies, procedures, and guidelines for assigned location.
    • Ensure compliance of all HR local and global activities with federal, state, and local legal requirements, and proactively address legislative changes.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements and partner with the legal department as needed.
    • Comply with Merz Group, AX and Merz North America policies and guidelines.
    • Comply with Quality Management System.
    • Comply with all audit requirements.
  • Organization:
    • Prioritize deliverables and projects in alignment with business and TechOps priorities, balancing local and global needs.
    • Champion the adoption of GenAI-enabled solutions to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and elevate the employee experience.
  • Collaboration:
    • Be an active member of the CORE GTOps Leadership Team, demonstrating the ability to lead and influence effectively within a highly matrixed, cross-functional manufacturing environment.
    • Formulate partnerships across the HR function and with key stakeholders to deliver value-added service to management and employees, reflecting the business objectives of the organization, while executing initiatives across a complex, highly matrixed network of stakeholders.
    • Establish and maintain partnerships with global and regional HR teams to ensure alignment and seamless collaboration across the enterprise.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Ensure the overall coherence of compensation and benefits policy in close collaboration with Total Rewards.
    • Manage annual salary review and merit increase processes.
    • Manage salary benchmark database.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
    • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
    • Maintain accurate ER case documentation and tracking.
  • Planning and Reporting:
    • Ensure accurate FTE reporting and lead workforce planning and budgeting for assigned sites.
    • Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS systems to ensure data integrity.
    • Ensure regular activities reporting.
  • Talent Management:
    • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
    • Lead the annual Talent Management Process to ensure talent development needs are identified and resourced appropriately.
    • Implement mobility and rotation plans.
  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Oversee the full cycle recruiting and hiring process for the site following talent acquisition processes.
    • Serve as a business partner with hiring managers to develop effective sourcing and recruitment strategies.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships within the organization and the hiring community to influence and impact the recruiting process and hiring outcomes.
    • Continuously monitor market trends and employer branding to ensure the company remains competitive and attractive to top talent.
  • Employee Engagement:
    • Define and implement actions to develop employee engagement across the site.
    • Lead onboarding and retention initiatives.
    • Implement innovative practices to position the company as an employer of choice within the TechOps sector. Regularly review and update processes to align with best practices and changing workforce expectations.
  • Learning & Development:
    • Implement L&D strategies and define/adapt L&D solutions for all TechOps employees under scope.
    • Ensure employees’ professional growth and skill development.
    • Drives GenAI adoption across the organization by promoting employee upskilling and implementing robust learning and development programs
  • Events & Communications:
    • Roll out Global communications and initiatives.
    • Actively participate to employees’ events and team building.
    • Ensure relevant internal and external communication.
  • Change Leadership:
    • Lead or sponsor organizational change initiatives, including digital HR transformation, process improvement, or culture programs within TechOps.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, business administration, law or equivalent
  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience including Recruiting, and employee relations, with a strong track record in strategic HR leadership roles
  • 5+ years in people leadership, managing HR teams or leading HR functions
  • 3-5 years in a fast-paced, growing business, in manufacturing, technical operations, supply chain, or other regulated environments, including experience working with hourly employees.
  • Drivers License Upon Hire

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principals relating to the practices and processes of learning and development.
  • Ability to plan, organize and follow through on tactical projects and strategic initiatives, effectively using time management techniques; ability to work independently and exercise common sense to reach sound professional judgements on issues within areas of responsibility.
