Position Summary

The Senior Director, HR Business Partner will work to provide strategic HR support and guidance to all areas of the institution, with a focus on talent management, employee engagement, and performance management.  The Senior Director, HR Business Partner:

  • Translates the business priorities and objectives into people related goals,

  • Participates in business planning and talent management,

  • Provides strategic business direction and design input to the HR center of excellence (COE) for the development of HR programs and guidelines,

  • Ensures the college strategic initiatives align with organizational philosophies, and

  • Serves as a consultant to administrators and staff leadership in the identification of key people metrics and the development of key people performance targets based on ongoing evaluation of those people metrics.

The Senior Director, HR Business Partner will also serve as an advocate to support and navigate culture change.  This position will work closely and in collaboration with senior leadership with the HR organization and with the One Dallas College Center of Excellence (COE) and Employee Experience Center (EEC) teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and regularly update talent inventory to include roles critical to short- and long-term strategy and goals, areas of retention risk, expected retirements, high potential talent development needs, and internal/external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the achievement of Human Resources/Dallas College goals.

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and other stakeholders across Dallas College providing HR guidance and support in areas such as talent management, employee engagement, and performance management.

  • Develop and implement HR guidelines, programs and initiatives that align with Dallas College’s strategic goals and objectives.

  • Collaborates with the business unit's leaders to identify and address opportunities to improve staffing, scheduling, and other operational productivity outcomes.

  • Assists in the implementation of organizational wide initiatives (compensation programs, talent management review, performance management, recognition, employee engagement survey, etc.).

  • Ensures accuracy of documentation and procedural accountability on all aspects of compliance.

  • Performs analysis of operational and people metrics to assess effectiveness of programs and practices.

  • Works with functional leadership to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls, and procedures that improve the overall efficiency of the organization and ensure excellent service.

  • Proactively reviews, analyzes, and identifies management, operational and organizational problems, and develops feasible plans for successful resolutions to those problems.

  • Provides staff with the tools, resources, and materials necessary to meet the goals of the organization.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship for Dallas College leadership and supervisors to discuss strategies to enhance talent management, retention, employee engagement, and performance.

  • Serve as an accessible person for leadership and employees for matters and queries related to human resources.

  • Collaborate with the HR managers and the executive leadership to interpret HR processes, business objectives and goals, challenges, and concerns.

  • Ensure that the integrated human resource strategies and guidelines align with the organizational needs and goals.

  • Serve as an HR advocate to promote and navigate culture change that will support strategic initiatives.

  • Assist HR leadership team to support optimizing the goals and objectives of Dallas College.

  • Provides counseling, coaching, mentorship, and guidance for employees as well as leadership teams to target better performance.

  • Develop and research HR strategies and policies to improve and align them with business needs.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of experience in human resources, business administration, administrative services, or another similar program.

  • Three (3) years HR Business Partner experience.

  • An official transcript will be required.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
