ROLE SUMMARY
Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances (OPSA) | Reports to VP, Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances
Pfizer Commercial Oncology is introducing the world to the next era of cancer care. With a growing portfolio of novel therapies, industry-leading R&D, and a goal of delivering eight breakthroughs by 2030 across major cancer types, we're translating cutting-edge science into market-shaping impact. Here, you'll partner with exceptional colleagues across scientific, medical, and manufacturing teams, backed by advanced digital and AI-enabled infrastructure and the authority to accelerate medicines from discovery to delivery. Guided by our values of courage, excellence, equity, and joy, you'll have the opportunity to stretch your skills and build a career that evolves with you-across teams, roles, and the Pfizer enterprise. Join us to make history - for patients, for their families, for the future.
At Pfizer Oncology, we are committed to "Outdo Cancer" by advancing transformative medicines wherever we can make a profound difference in the lives of patients. Pfizer Oncology has an industry-leading pipeline across breast, genitourinary (GU), hematology-oncology, and thoracic therapeutic areas. Getting a medicine approved is not the same as getting it to a patient. Prior authorization delays, step therapy, benefit design, and a portfolio shifting from Part D toward buy-and-bill all sit between a prescription and a patient actually starting and staying on therapy. This role exists to close that gap - and increasingly, to anticipate it before it opens. Grounded in the patient voice, this role is accountable for a more connected, proactive, and predictive experience for people living with cancer: anticipating need, reducing barriers, and supporting quality of life across the entire patient journey.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Oncology Patient Solutions Strategy Lead owns the strategy and investment case behind OPSA's signature patient solutions platforms - Pfizer Oncology Together, This Is Living With Cancer, and My Healthcare Finances - including the oncology co-pay and patient support services (PSS) programs that sit inside them, and leads a team that includes the Global & US Patient Experience Team Lead, whose team is organized around four focus areas (Platforms, Brand Teams & QoL, Innovation, Partnerships) translating quality-of-life insight into adherence and persistency outcomes across the Oncology Business Unit.
This role will work to understand the trends in challenges Oncology patients and their provider care teams face, the complexities creating access, affordability, and adherence issues, and will provide subject matter expertise in Oncology patient solutions and experience programs. Critically, this role leads the shift from reactive support to predictive, AI-enabled support that flags disengagement and abandonment risk early enough to intervene, and connects the right resource to the right patient at the right moment.
As a member of the OPSA Leadership Team, this role serves as a key strategic partner to OPSA functions including Field Reimbursement, Advocacy & Professional Relations, and Health Equity. It partners closely with the US and Global Oncology Franchises, the International Commercial Office (ICO), Portfolio Marketing, Market Access and Patient Solutions (MAPS) leaders including Patient Support Services, Payer Marketing and Channel, the Chief Marketing Office, Pfizer Digital, and Policy & Public Affairs.
This role is the strategic lynch-pin between the Oncology Business Unit, MAPS (USMA & Pfizer Patient Services), Policy & Public Affairs, and the ICO, driving one aligned, predictive patient support strategy across functions. This role will:
  • Own the platform roadmap and investment case for Pfizer Oncology Together, This Is Living With Cancer, and My Healthcare Finances, plus the co-pay and PSS programs, evolving them from static support tools into a connected, AI-enabled quality-of-life infrastructure.
  • Leadership for US & Global Patient Experience team across its four focus areas - Platforms, Brand Teams & QoL, Innovation, and Partnerships - turning the team's strategic plan into a coordinated execution roadmap with clear, outcome-based KPIs (not activity metrics).
  • Champion the shift from reactive to predictive patient support, sponsoring dynamic, AI-enabled tools that identify disengagement and treatment-abandonment risk before it happens and deliver the right resource at the right moment, in close partnership with Pfizer Digital.
  • Deliver key insights for Commercial Oncology Leadership Team on existing and emerging access, affordability, and adherence barriers across the Pfizer Oncology portfolio.
  • Develop key strategic approaches to oncology patient solutions and liaise with cross-functional partners to ensure strategies are pulled through to tactical execution, with metrics and KPIs established and tracked.
  • Partner as a peer with the National Field Reimbursement Lead and Advocacy & Professional Relations leadership to ensure field, advocacy, and platform strategies reinforce - rather than duplicate - one another.
  • Lead and develop the team described above including coaching the Global & US Patient Experience Team Lead on translating the four-pillar PX strategy into execution, and prioritizing the open Marketing Manager hire for Pfizer Oncology Together.
  • Direct budget and investment decisions for signature platforms and co-pay/charitable access programs, building and presenting the business case to senior Oncology leadership that ties patient-experience investment to adherence, persistence, and access outcomes rather than activity. Mitigate misuse for access programs.
  • Continuously vet vendors and emerging technology, working closely with Pfizer Digital and Patient Support Services to responsibly and compliantly bring AI capability into patient-facing programs.
  • Represent Pfizer externally in executive meetings with providers, with advocacy organizations, health systems, and industry forums on predictive, technology-enabled patient support innovation.
  • Establish core KPIs for oncology patient experience and support Establish core patient solutions metrics to capture impact of Pfizer Oncology Patient Solutions strategic impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree such as MBA or MPH strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of pharmaceutical commercial experience (strategy, marketing, market access, or business operations), with significant experience in Oncology.
  • Strong understanding of the US access space (pharmacy and medical benefit oncolytics, co-pay, maximizer/accumulator programs) and global market dynamics, including the shift from Part D to buy-and-bill reimbursement.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI, predictive analytics, or digital tools to patient-facing programs - for example, adherence or disengagement-risk models, conversational AI, or automated appeals/navigation tools - and translating that into a credible investment case for senior leadership.
  • Experience owning budget, P&L, or investment decisions for patient support platforms and/or co-pay or charitable access programs.
  • Strong strategic skills, including effectiveness in identifying and addressing major strategic challenges (e.g., a shifting reimbursement environment) and balancing short-term needs against long-term vision.
  • Experience working successfully in a matrix environment, with the ability to lead through influence across functions that do not report directly.
  • Solid analytical and strategic thinking; ability to translate strategy and analysis into a tactical, executable level, and to synthesize complex information into insight that drives brand and patient outcomes.
  • Track record of leading and managing complex, multi-workstream programs to deliver improved outcomes, including through organizational change or ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for Leadership and external audiences.
  • Previous people leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of high performance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Direct experience leading or partnering with a Field Reimbursement organization as a peer function (rather than direct oversight).
  • Understanding of guardrails in advocacy and patient solutions, and of Financial Access Navigation across the industry.
  • Headquarters experience working across cross-functional HQ departments, teams, and business units, including ICO/global patient experience matrix structures.
  • Access and reimbursement experience across both oral and IV oncology products.
  • At least 10 years of Oncology market experience specifically.
