Pay Range:

$176,300.00 - $289,700.00

Location: Minneapolis, MN (flexible – other Bio-Techne sites considered)
Reports to: VP, Operations & Supply Chain

  • Manager, Strategic Supply Chain

Position Summary:

The Sr. Director of Global Supply Chain is responsible for building and running Bio-Techne’s global supply chain operating system across planning, distribution, strategic sourcing, intercompany flows, inventory strategy, and supporting systems.

Bio-Techne has strong operators and talented individuals across the organization. The next phase of growth requires installing the systems, operating rhythms, and leadership capability that allow the supply chain to perform reliably without reliance on heroics or constant escalation.

This leader will design and implement the enterprise supply chain operating model while simultaneously leading day-to-day operations across global distribution, planning, and sourcing teams.

The role requires a builder–operator leader — someone who understands the mechanics of supply chain operations and can translate that knowledge into scalable processes, systems, and organizational capability.

The successful candidate will combine operational credibility with the ability to design and install the systems that allow the supply chain to run effectively without constant intervention.

Success will be measured by building a supply chain that operates with discipline, transparency, and predictable outcomes.

Role Boundaries & Operating Intent:

To ensure clarity in a matrixed environment:

Enterprise Supply Chain (this role)
Owns supply chain architecture, planning logic, enterprise standards, and performance governance.

Business Units
Retain accountability for commercial tradeoffs and inventory positioning decisions within enterprise frameworks.

Sites & Regions
Own day-to-day operational execution within defined enterprise standards.

Escalations
Come to this role only when decisions span regions, business units, or require enterprise-level alignment.

This role strengthens site leadership and builds systems that reduce reliance on escalation.

Key Responsibilities:

Build the Enterprise Supply Chain Operating System

Design and implement the operating model that governs how planning, distribution, sourcing, inventory strategy, and systems work together globally.

Key elements include:

  • Global SIOP / planning cadence

  • Inventory segmentation and positioning principles

  • Distribution and logistics operating standards

  • Intercompany flow governance

  • Strategic sourcing governance and supplier performance management

  • Data visibility and analytics capability

  • ERP-enabled supply chain processes

The objective is not simply defining processes but installing a system that leaders across the organization can run consistently.

Lead Multi-Site Supply Chain Operations

Provide operational leadership for global distribution, planning, and sourcing organizations, including direct accountability for Europe distribution and U.S. OEM supply chain operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing consistent operating rhythms across sites

  • Driving service reliability and inventory discipline

  • Coaching operational leaders and building accountability

  • Improving execution across distribution and planning teams

The leader must be comfortable engaging with operational teams across distribution centers and planning organizations while also shaping enterprise supply chain architecture.

Global Planning, Inventory Strategy & Network Design

Design and implement a global planning discipline that aligns demand, supply, and inventory strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and governing the global SIOP process

  • Defining planning assumptions and decision frameworks

  • Developing enterprise inventory segmentation principles

  • Supporting long-range network design and capacity planning

The focus is establishing planning discipline that drives predictable outcomes and transparent tradeoffs across service, inventory, and capacity.

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Governance

Bio-Techne is in the early stages of building a strategic sourcing capability. This role will establish and scale the sourcing function as a core component of the enterprise supply chain operating system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building the company’s strategic sourcing organization and operating model

  • Establishing supplier segmentation, category strategies, and sourcing governance

  • Implementing supplier performance management and review rhythms

  • Strengthening supply continuity, supplier risk management, and cost discipline

  • Ensuring sourcing strategy aligns with planning, manufacturing, and inventory objectives

Enterprise Systems, Data & Planning Logic

Establish the data and systems foundation required for scalable supply chain operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the supply chain ERP and systems roadmap

  • Governing master data and planning logic

  • Creating decision-support analytics and operational dashboards

  • Aligning supply chain processes with enterprise systems

Systems should enable better decisions and operational discipline, not simply reporting.

Build and Develop the Supply Chain Organization

Develop the leadership capability required to sustain the supply chain operating system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coaching and developing supply chain leaders across regions

  • Building capabilities in planning, distribution, sourcing, and analytics teams

  • Creating accountability and leadership ownership

  • Developing a strong bench and succession pipeline

The role requires balancing collaboration, accountability, and decisive leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or MBA preferred

  • 12–15+ years of progressive supply chain leadership across planning, distribution, sourcing, and systems

  • Experience leading multi-site operations in a matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated experience building or transforming supply chain operating systems (SIOP, planning governance, distribution discipline, and supporting systems)

  • Operational credibility with planning, distribution, and sourcing organizations

  • Proven ability to develop leaders while driving accountability

  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder alignment skills

Leadership Characteristics:

The ideal candidate combines three capabilities:

System Builder
Understands what a high-performing supply chain organization looks like and can install the processes and systems that enable it.

Operational Leader
Understands the mechanics of running planning, distribution, and sourcing operations and can coach teams to improve performance.

Enterprise Partner
Works effectively with executive stakeholders while maintaining clarity, accountability, and disciplined decision-making.

The Opportunity:

This role will shape the people, processes, and systems that define Bio-Techne’s global supply chain for the next decade.

The successful candidate will build the operating system and leadership capability required to support the company’s continued growth.
