Job Summary
Position responsible for planning, organizing, actualizing, and controlling the facility’s Engineering Services operations, achieving operating efficiency within budgetary constraints.Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Masters level education/degree preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Licensure (formal training) in stationary engineering, electrical, HVAC or other trade/craft preferred
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Seven (7) to 10 years management experience in hospital operations and maintenance environment in hospitals of progressively increasing size up to 600-800 beds and greater than 1 million square feet
Knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, and NFPA regulations and standards
Working knowledge of electrical power, HVAC, and medical gas systems
Principal Accountabilities
Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis, utilizing the principles of continuous process improvement; Develops, implements, checks and retools action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
Leads hospital Environment Of Care safety efforts as outlined in the Hospital’s Safety Manual.
Controls and reduces costs, and ensures that controllable expenses meet or exceed budget.
Forecasts operational needs, reviews budget reports and takes corrective action to address negative variances. Responsible for budgets of up to $5 million operational (expense) and $3 to $5 million capital.
Establishes scope of services and develops annual implementation plans, which contribute to organizational strategic objectives.
Project Management of capital projects up to $1,000,000 range
Consults/advises on campus master plan efforts and expansion projects. Provides quality control of construction efforts, similar to an owner’s representative.
Accepts assignments, researches and compiles data, produces a complete product and presents clear recommendations.
Serves as a resource to other institutions within System regarding project management and regulatory issues and internal standards creations.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
