Position Summary

The Senior Director, Meetings & Events is the enterprise leader accountable for defining and advancing the strategy, operating model, and performance of the meetings and engagements ecosystem. This role owns enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and investment prioritization across commercial, medical, and internal events.

Operating with high autonomy and executive visibility, this leader drives innovative, compliant, and scalable engagement models that enhance business outcomes, HCP engagement, and organizational effectiveness. The role leads a multi-layered team and external parter ecosystem, delivering both strategic impact and operational excellence across a complex, high investment portfolio.


Enterprise Strategy & Governance

·        Define and own a multi-year, enterprise-wide meetings and engagements strategy aligned to commercial, medical, and corporate priorities

·        Enhance and evolve SOPs, templates, governance models, and planning standards

·        Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements (MLR, HCP standards)

·        Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform on event portfolio optimization and effectiveness and business impact


Portfolio Leadership

Oversee an enterprise portfolio including:

·        Commercial meetings (national, regional, and local)

·        HCP speaker bureaus and peer-to-peer programs

·        Congress events and product theaters

·        Advisory boards and investigator meetings

·        Internal leadership, training, and field enablement events


Operational Excellence

·        Oversee execution of end-to end event planning including logistics, sourcing, travel, production, and on-site execution

·        Implement enterprise planning processes, including calendars, resource planning, and capacity models

·        Standardize processes across virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats

·        Drive efficiency and scalability across franchise and brand teams


Speaker Programs & Compliance

·        Oversee enterprise HCP speaker program strategy and execution

·        Ensure compliant processes for speaker contracting, attendee tracking, and transfer-of-value reporting

·        Maintain documentation and audit-ready processes in line with industry requirements


Vendor & Financial Leadership

·        Lead enterprise vendor strategy, including sourcing, onboarding, governance, and performance management

·        Own budget planning, forecasting and optimization

·        Partner with Legal, Strategic Sourcing, and Finance for contract execution and renewals

·        Develop KPIs and performance frameworks for vendors and financial accountability

Executive & Cross-Functional Leadership

·        Influence and align senior and executive stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Medical, Market Access, Patient Services, Field Enablement, Finance, and Legal

·        Ensure alignment between meeting strategy, brand priorities and commercial objectives

·        Lead across a highly matrixed environment, driving alignment and decision making


People Leadership & Development

·        Lead, coach, and develop a multi-layered team

·        Set performance goals and build succession planning

·        Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration


Performance & Continuous Improvement

·        Define KPIs: attendee engagement, satisfaction, compliance adherence, budget performance

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

·        10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in meetings & events, preferably in pharma/biotech, including enterprise level scope and strategic accountability

·        Experience with enterprise level scope, strategy ownership, and transformation initiatives

·        Deep knowledge of vendor relations, regulated environments and compliance framework

·        Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders

Minimum $209,599.00 - Maximum $313,375.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting pay for individuals who are hired in the role to perform in the United States. Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role. Typically, actual pay will be positioned within the established range, rather than at its minimum or maximum. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with states and local laws.
