The Role
The Senior Director of Communications will provide oversight and day to day management of internal and external communications teams and partner with the SVP to determine and adjust strategic direction of the function.  This leader will serve as the deputy communications leader for Aledade and provide oversight of cross functional committees including Communications Steering Committee, Risk Governance, and crisis command centers as needed, coordinating across leaders and teams to achieve communications results matching strategic objectives. Additionally, the Senior Director will work closely with the SVP Communications to develop skills, learning opportunities and assess and manage operational needs across the team. 

We are flexible with geographic location—the ideal candidate can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or from our headquarters in Bethesda, MD.


Primary Duties:

  • Management of internal, external and customer  communications teams including check ins with staff, prioritization and delegation of tasks, assist with planning and execution of strategies and tactics to ensure success of efforts across channels.  Serve as spokesperson when needed and plan and monitor communications activities across current customers, employees and external stakeholders.  
  • Lead cross functional communications efforts including participation in company-wide committees, command centers and more as established and needed. Serve as deputy communications leader for organization.
  • Strategic and operational planning and management to ensure that day to day execution matches strategic goals and objectives;  oversee use of planning calendar, analytics and measurement and team reporting to assess impact and adjust as needed. 
  • Operational lead to include team leadership development activities such as staff meetings and retreats, budget planning and management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field
  • 15+ years in progressive experience in Communications roles, including 8+ years people management experience

Preferred knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely
  • Exceptional attention to detail, both in messaging and in written documents 
  • Expertise with various communication channels for effective dissemination of information 
  • Proven success in a senior role of a Corporate Communications function in a high-growth environment 
  • A track record of fostering a work environment known for collaboration, alignment, accountability, and trust
  • Familiarity with the health care ecosystem and value-based care are a plus
  • Ability to think beyond their immediate team and contribute to making Aledade holistically better (active engagement in DE&I efforts, culture initiatives, facilitating training, leading roundtables, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
