Job Description

The Senior Director of APAC Regional Logistics reports to the VP of Global Logistics and Fulfillment and  leads the end-to-end logistics strategy and execution across a complex, multi-country network supporting 8 WD material warehouses, inter-plant logistics operations, and Factory operations for 8 internal Factories and material support for WD’s largest Global Customer Fulfillment Center. This role is accountable for ensuring agile, resilient, and cost-efficient logistics operations in a fast-paced environment characterized by rapid innovation cycles, fluctuating demand, and stringent customer expectations.

The leader will drive material warehouse network optimization, logistics transportation strategy, cross-border efficiency, and digital transformation while navigating regulatory, trade compliance, and geopolitical considerations unique to the Asia Pacific region. Managing Executive relationships with internal Factory Operations stakeholders and external Logistics Providers is a key aspect of the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regional Strategy & Network Design

  • Define and execute APAC logistics strategy aligned with global supply chain and business growth objectives and local WD Factory operational requirements.
  • Optimize material warehouse network supporting APAC material Factory and Procurement requirements. (e.g. China, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines)
  • Partner with Logistics providers on automation and digital strategy to drive operational performance and productivity and cost reduction.

Cross-Border Operations & Trade Compliance

  • Oversee complex international logistics flows, including import/export, customs clearance, free-trade and Manufacturing zones and bonded operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regional trade regulations, export controls, and regional audit compliance.
  • Mitigate risks related to geopolitical shifts, tariffs, and changes to local regulations.

Transportation & 3PL Management

  • Lead regional transportation strategy across regional air, ocean, and ground modes with emphasis on cost, speed, and risk management.
  • Manage and optimize regional relationships with 3PLs and freight forwarders in support of APAC operations.
  • Partner with WD procurement and 3PL to balance cost, performance, and capacity.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive best-in-class performance in inbound material management, warehousing and inter-plant logistics movements.
  • Ensure high service levels of material delivery to internal Factories, low latency, and high inventory accuracy.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive cost reduction, productivity improvements, and operational improvements.

Technology & Digital Transformation

  • Lead deployment and optimization of logistics technologies (e.g., TMS, WMS, control towers, real-time tracking) in partnership with regional 3PL’s and Global Logistics COE.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and AI/ML to drive automation and streamlining of processes.

Financial Leadership

  • Support APAC regional logistics P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
  • Monitor key metrics such as warehouse costs, freight spend, and inventory accuracy.
  • Identify structural cost improvements while maintaining premium service levels.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner with regional Factory operations, procurement, and 3PL’s to drive day to day operations and transformational agenda.
  • Support APAC logistics readiness for new product introductions (NPI).
  • Act as a key interface between global Transportation and Trade Ops and regional APAC operations.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing regional logistics organization.
  • Develop local leadership talent across multiple APAC markets.
  • Foster a culture of agility, accountability, and innovation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 12–15+ years of logistics/supply chain/operations experience, with significant leadership roles in APAC region.
  • Strong experience in high-tech industries (e.g., electronics, semiconductors, telecom equipment)
  • Proven track record of managing complex operational environments with high performance.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading high impact operational teams in APAC region.
  • Proven track record of driving transformational change leading to improvements in operational performance, productivity, and cost reduction in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and teams.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience supporting outsourced operations with 3PL and working with external suppliers.
  • Familiarity with export and import control regulations in APAC.
  • Experience with digital supply chain tools and advanced analytics platforms
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement certifications.
