Position OverviewThe Senior Director of Application Development is Responsible for the management of all software application development projects within the organization. Develop, implement, and maintain software applications and systems that support the needs of a Retail wholesale distribution operations, including warehouse management, inventory control, logistics, and supply chain systems. Job Description
- Responsible for the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing software applications primarily to enable the success of C&S Wholesale Grocers Business operations.
- Financial Responsibilities: Cost Management: ensure that projects and overall department operations stay within budget, involving negotiating contracts with vendors, assessing the cost-effectiveness of various solutions, and finding ways to reduce costs without compromising quality. Financial Forecasting: forecast future costs for application development initiatives, involving considering the costs of new projects, maintenance for existing applications, potential upgrades, and other factors. Return on Investment (ROI): demonstrate the financial benefits of the applications and technologies they develop through increasing efficiency, reducing operational costs, driving revenue growth, or other means.
- Collaborate with leadership (VPs and Directors) within business and IT to define Application software development project requirements and their priorities. Responsible for application modernization and drives continuous application transformation to minimize technical debt.
- Lead the evaluation and review of processes, systems, and applications in collaboration with the technical and functional teams on any new customer integrations or M&A opportunities.
- Build the Apps Dev organization's culture by encouraging leaders and managers to foster a culture of transparency and open dialogue where everyone feels safe to share ideas and voice concerns, provide learning
- Set up standards and best practices for the application development function to ensure software quality and security. Set clear expectations and goals to support the professional growth and development of the Application Developers teams.
- Supervise 3 Architects, App Development; 3 Principal Engineers, App Development, 1 Sr. Software Engineer, J2EE, and 1 Principal Engineer, IT Admin, and 20+ contractors.
Hybrid office/home work schedule.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field and 10 years of experience in software engineering and design, or, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field and 8 years of experience in software engineering and design. Total experience must include:
- 8 years with PL/SQL, OAF, BI Publisher, and Workflow
- 5 years: full life cycle Oracle EBS Applications implementation in multibillion dollar companies; in a leadership role
- 3 years with ADF
