Job DescriptionAs a Senior Director of AI Platform Engineering, you will oversee a layer of our internal platform that makes AI real for an engineering organization of 5,000 developers. This platform allows teams use to build, run, and govern agents.
Additionally, it includes the AI architecture that identifies, logs, enforces policies on, and controls the cost of every model interaction in the organization.
You will assess where AI creates genuine leverage across the software development lifecycle, sequence a roadmap against a clear north star, and ship production systems. The platform you build is how the engineering organization moves from individual AI experimentation to AI-native software delivery at scale. You will report to the VP of Developer Platform Engineering.
You'll have Opportunity To:
- Oversee creation of the internal platform that is responsible for identity, rate limiting, data classification enforcement, audit logging, and model access management.
- Oversee the agent marketplace - the registry, trust framework, and contribution model that turns every team's AI automation into shared organizational capability
- Build the pipeline-level AI layer, assessing where governed AI steps in CI/CD create the most leverage
- Own the knowledge graph and retrieval architecture
- Review designs, unblock implementation, and set grounding and governance standards for the team of developers you will oversee
- The best candidate for this role has shipped production AI systems, has a genuine point of view on how AI changes the shape of software development, and is the kind of leader other engineers look to when the question is how to build something that has not been built before.
- 8+ years in technology roles
- 3+ years in senior leadership roles
- Track record building and operating production AI systems at enterprise scale - RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, LLM API integration, and the governance infrastructure
- Fluency in the software development lifecycle and a point of view on how AI changes the shape of it
- Implementation-level knowledge of MCP protocol and agentic orchestration - including MCP server development, multi-agent coordination, and grounding standards
- Experience designing developer-facing platforms with contribution and governance models at scale - inner-source programs, agent or capability marketplaces
- Leadership history of setting technical direction, review architecture, and stay close to implementation while running a lean team and driving influence across thousands of developers without becoming the bottleneck
