SUMMARY

The Senior Digital Learning Specialist leads the design, development and quality assurance of innovative, impactful digital learning solutions that drive performance improvement and learner engagement. This role partners with stakeholders to design and deliver strategic digital learning initiatives, leveraging instructional design expertise, advanced technology and data-driven approaches to meet organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Learning Design & Development

  • Design and develop complex, innovative and scalable digital learning solutions, including eLearning modules, interactive SCORM packages, digital performance support resources, video-based learning and assessment experiences.
  • Lead the end-to-end eLearning design process, from analysis and storyboard development through build, review, quality assurance and final publishing.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of digital learning experiences that support self-paced, technology-enabled learning.
  • Lead collaboration with subject matter experts to translate business requirements and source material into clear, engaging and instructionally sound digital learning content.
  • Champion accessibility, inclusivity and learner-centered approaches across all digital learning materials.
  • Define, implement and continuously evolve eLearning design standards, templates, reusable assets and best-practice guidance across the design team to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Apply generative AI to enhance learning design, development workflows and team capability.

Testing, Quality Assurance & LMS Readiness

  • Conduct comprehensive functional, instructional and visual quality assurance of eLearning products after completion of design and development.
  • Ensure Learning content is instructionally sound, functionally accurate, accessible and consistent.
  • Ensure all internally developed content is SCORM/xAPI compliant and performs effectively across supported platforms, browsers and devices.
  • Provide final design authority and quality sign-off for complex digital learning solutions, ensuring alignment with standards and business objectives.
  • Ensure digital learning packages, completion requirements, assessments and supporting assets are fully prepared for LMS configuration, testing and deployment, retaining end-to-end ownership of quality, deployment readiness and design integrity.

 Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify eLearning needs and align solutions with strategic goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for key eLearning projects, providing insights and guidance on learning strategy and digital solution design.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Mentor, coach and provide quality oversight to the design team, supporting capability development and eLearning excellence across the team.
  • Develop and implement measurement frameworks to evaluate eLearning effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Refine digital learning solutions based on data analytics, learner feedback and evolving organizational requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead high-level discussions with cross-functional teams to ensure learning initiatives meet business objectives.
  • Communicate eLearning project scope, milestones and deliverables effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate discovery, scoping and design workshops to capture requirements, validate content and refine eLearning objectives.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure eLearning projects are delivered on time, within scope and meet quality standards.
  • Oversee and maintain a repository of reusable learning assets, templates and tools.
  • Optimize eLearning workflows and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.

Metrics

  • Maintain metrics in key areas outlined by management, including:
  • Delivery of strategic digital learning initiatives aligned to measurable business outcomes.
  • High learner and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Consistent on-time, within-scope delivery of eLearning projects.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • 6+ years of experience in digital learning design, eLearning development or instructional design, including leadership roles.
  • Strong background in designing, developing and quality-assuring digital learning solutions, including eLearning, interactive SCORM content, digital assessments and video-based learning.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and managing complex or enterprise-level digital learning initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certifications in digital learning, instructional design or project management (e.g., ATD, CIPD, PMP).
  • A digital portfolio of SCORM files showcasing hands-on experience with eLearning authoring tools is required.

Expertise in Learning Design

  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design models, adult learning theories and performance-focused digital learning strategies.
  • Proven ability to create impactful digital learning experiences that integrate technology, interactivity and real-world application.

Technological Proficiency

  • Mastery of digital learning tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate and Vyond).
  • Strong understanding of LMS platforms, xAPI, SCORM and analytics tools to measure digital learning impact.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and video editing software.
  • Strong knowledge of generative AI tools and the ability to evaluate outputs for quality, accuracy, accessibility and compliance.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Exceptional ability to influence, coach and lead cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and navigating complex digital learning projects in a dynamic environment.

Data-Driven Decision-Making

  • Strong analytical skills to assess digital learning needs, measure effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards to communicate digital learning outcomes and ROI to leadership.
