Role Overview
The Senior DevTools Engineer / Atlassian Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade workflows, automations, and integrations across Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow. This role is hands-on and focuses on workflow engineering, system integrations, and AI-assisted enhancements to improve engineering productivity and ITSM alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex Jira workflows including conditions, validators, and post-functions.
- Configure and customize issue types, fields, screens, schemes, and permission models.
- Develop and maintain Confluence templates, macros, and automated knowledge solutions.
- Implement Jira automation rules and advanced scripting using ScriptRunner (Groovy).
- Build and support bi-directional integrations between Jira and ServiceNow (SNOW).
- Synchronize incidents, problems, changes, requests, statuses, comments, and attachments between tools.
- Develop integrations using REST APIs, Webhooks, and OAuth-based authentication.
- Ensure data integrity, error handling, auditability, and loop prevention for integrations.
- Integrate Jira and Confluence with DevOps tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Slack, and Teams.
- Leverage AI capabilities for ticket summarization, intelligent routing, prioritization, and knowledge discovery.
- Create technical documentation and provide support to engineering and ITSM stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 8-12 years of hands-on experience in DevTools, Platform Engineering, or similar roles.
- Strong development experience with Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
- Demonstrated experience integrating Jira with ServiceNow in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, ITSM, and SDLC processes.
- Expertise in REST APIs, JSON, scripting, and automation frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Atlassian Cloud and cloud migration initiatives.
- Exposure to ServiceNow Flow Designer and scripting.
- Experience with AI/ML use cases such as NLP, summarization, and classification.
- Atlassian or Agile-related certifications.
