We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, system administration, and automation, with a passion for building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our deployment processes, improving our CI/CD pipeline, and ensuring the smooth operation of our production environments.
Location: If you are close driving distance to our Westbrook, Maine HQ, we would ask you to be on-site on a hybrid basis. Alternatively, if you live outside of Maine, you can be 100% virtual/remote. Please note, you will need to cover East Coast US workday from 8-5 Mon-Fri.
In this role…
- Create and maintain system documentation, ensuring that information is current and reflects system updates and changes
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to and resolve system issues during designated periods, ensuring the smooth operation of production environments
- Support responsibilities that intersect with multiple IDEXX development teams and business functions
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure using cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate code deployment and testing processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of new features and applications.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and security.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of DevOps practices and processes.
- Mentor and guide junior team members in best practices and technical skills.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, so must have an in-depth knowledge of DevOps principles and systems administration
- Must have knowledge of Linux platforms, containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Must be proficient with application servers configuration, deployment, and administration; WebLogic Server experience is required.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) – a strong preference is for AWS.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation). Preference is on the Terraform experience.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python, Bash).
- Be familiar with software development processes in a hybrid-cloud environment
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- A keen eye for implementing industry best practices for system hardening and configuration managemen
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- Base annual salary target: $100000 - $120000 (yes, we do have flexibility if needed)
