About the Role
- We’re seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team as the number two DevOps hire, who will be responsible for service delivery, reliability, and scalability. This is a hands-on technical role focused on infrastructure-as-code implementation, automation, and ensuring system reliability. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, having the opportunity to grow and help shape our technical infrastructure.
What You Will Do
- Design and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and AWS Cloud.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to reduce deployment time, improve code quality, and streamline release processes.
- Maintain monitoring dashboards and monitor service health using tools like Grafana, CloudWatch, and Sentry.
- Architect and maintain internal tools that help boost software engineering productivity and organizational security.
- Create and deploy cloud resources using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members while participating in cross-functional initiatives.
Who You Are (Required):
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering.
- Proactively collaborate with engineers and staff engineers to architect solutions for tools/services applications.
- An expert in cloud platforms with deep knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Helm, AWS CloudFormation).
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- A skilled programmer comfortable with Python, Go, or Bash, particularly in implementing automation and tooling.
- A strong communicator who can work effectively in ambiguous environments and collaborate across teams.
Who You Are (Preferred):
- Shift-left practice; integrating security and test automation earlier in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience building complex systems supporting 100,000+ users.
- Prior experience with e-commerce systems and Shopify.
- Background in team leadership or mentorship.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.
