About the Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer your responsibility will be to utilize the latest DevOps tools and technologies to deploy applications efficiently and reliably in the cloud. Including implementing monitoring of new applications in production, while utilizing the latest technologies and following DevOps best practices for auto healing and alert fatigue. Expectation will be to investigate and troubleshoot complex issues for Product Streams and help support applications in all environments, as well as lead the implementation of performance engineering best practices and assist in performance improvements to improve site reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain infrastructure using tools such as Terraform and Ansible in a modern AWS environment with a focus on Linux, NGINX and Tomcat
  • Troubleshoot production issues involving AWS, and/or Linux/UNIX servers
  • Implement infrastructure automation with Terraform and other tools
  • Drive and document Root Cause Analysis of problems experienced
  • Partner with the development team and senior management to facilitate production setup, implement product and API changes, deploy updates, improve platform reliability
  • Communicate and manage production support issues
  • Continually review new technology that can be implemented within the company
  • Due to this role’s involvement in GovCloud, qualified candidates must be a “U.S. Person”
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in a DevOps or Software Engineering role
  • Proficient experience with AWS, Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience in Linux systems administration
  • Knowledge of UNIX scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, etc.)
  • Experience with configuring various server applications including NGINX, MySQL, DNS/BIND
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to communicate (both written and verbal) complex ideas clearly and effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Preferred

  • Experience troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining Java application frameworks in a high-availability, high-traffic environment
  • Knowledge of, or experience in certifications such as SOC2 or FedRAMP
  • Experience with development in Java/Tomcat or NodeJS
  • Experience with SQL writing queries and/or optimizing MySQL
  • Experience in Server Administration with Windows Server
  • Experience with non-AWS cloud providers (Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field
