About Us

There’s something special about working for a company like Macquarie Telecom. We’re not the biggest in the industry, where you’re just a number. We’re not tiny enough that you’ve never heard of us. We’re in that sweet spot where we’re strong enough to punch above our weight. And we definitely do! Because of this, you have the opportunity to make a difference.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced and delivery-focused Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. The Senior DevOps Engineer role is to simplify the management of the Telco infrastructure through monitoring, automation, standardization, integration, reporting, compliance checking and remediation of the network infrastructure using the most effective network management system.

What you'll be doing

  • System Design and Implementation: Designing and implementing OSS solutions to manage network operations, service delivery, and performance monitoring. Configuring and integrating OSS tools and systems with other operational systems and network elements.
  • Maintenance and Support: Carrying out regular maintenance and updates on OSS platforms to ensure optimal performance and security. Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to OSS systems, including software bugs and hardware failures.
  • Monitoring and Performance Management: Monitoring the performance of OSS systems and network components to ensure they meet operational requirements. Analysing system logs and performance metrics to identify and address potential issues before they affect operations.
  • Automation and Optimisation: Developing and implementing automation scripts to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention. Optimising OSS processes and workflows to improve efficiency and lower operational costs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Creating and maintaining documentation for OSS systems, including design specifications, configuration details, and troubleshooting guides. Preparing reports on system performance, incident management, and operational metrics for stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with network engineers, developers, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of OSS solutions with existing infrastructure. Liaising with vendors and service providers for support and troubleshooting when required.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensuring OSS systems comply with industry standards and regulations. Implementing and managing security measures to protect OSS systems from vulnerabilities and threats.

Your ideal skills and experience

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SNMP). Experience with OSS platforms and tools (e.g., network management systems, fault management systems). Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash). 7+ years' experience in relevant technical roles across a mix of network/system administration, DevOps, or software development roles.
  • Software and Tools: Familiarity with OSS software and systems used for network management, service assurance, and performance monitoring. Experience with database management systems and SQL for managing operational data.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues with OSS systems and network components. Ability to analyse complex systems and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders, including technical teams and management. A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of telecommunications and network operations, including knowledge of relevant standards and practices. Awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies that could impact OSS systems.
