We are looking for an experienced, highly adaptable team player to join our multicultural DevOps team. In this role, you will be part of our Platform Engineering function, which is dedicated to streamlining and automating development and operations processes to ensure faster, more efficient, and more reliable software delivery. Development and DevOps are viewed as one engineering team at Bitsight, there are no silos, and we work together to deliver business value.

What You'll Do:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be expected to act as a technical reference and strategic leader for the team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Infrastructure & Operations: Operate, scale, and troubleshoot BitSight’s SaaS cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and security. Provide occasional off-shift availability for production issues or maintenance.
• System Design & Problem Solving: Tackle complex, system-level designs that affect multiple components, while proactively anticipating localized performance and scalability issues before they arise.
• AI Enablement & Automation: Pioneer self-optimizing infrastructure systems and leverage AI to accelerate feature delivery. Ensure operational quality by treating AI-assisted infrastructure automation as a strict systems challenge that requires manual and staging validation before production deployment. Actively manage the costs and ROI of AI-driven systems.
• Collaboration & Impact: Act as an enabler of team efficiency by breaking down complex problems into optimized parallel work streams. Propose creative solutions, lead design-level discussions, and provide technical advice that impacts multiple teams.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Drive the organizational best practices for infrastructure, advocate for high-quality documentation, and mentor early-stage senior engineers on system design.

What You'll Need:

• Proven experience as a DevOps/Operations engineer in a SaaS environment.
• Extensive experience with Linux systems (Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS preferred) and general automation scripting (Bash/Python).
• Deep experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and major Cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Strong expertise with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and tools, such as Terraform.
• Demonstrated fluency in leveraging AI tools to accelerate infrastructure delivery, coupled with a strong understanding of how to safely validate, govern, and measure the ROI of AI-assisted automation.
• Strategic thinking capabilities, able to deeply understand the customer's "job to be done" and gather empirical data to guide your decision-making.
• Demonstrated bias for action on tough calls, accountability, and the ability to proactively communicate project status, risks, and milestones to all stakeholders.
• A well-organized, team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab) and Configuration Management (Chef, Ansible).
• Experience with advanced Observability, Monitoring, and Logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, JSM, Datadog, SumoLogic, ELK, Groundcover).
• Strong understanding of network engineering and security principles (Internet protocols, firewalls, routing, etc.).

The anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is US$135,000 to $150,000 annually for US-based employees.  This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, is based on a full-time work schedule, and is Bitsight’s good faith estimate as of the date of this posting.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for participation in a bonus or commission plan and an equity grant.  Bitsight also offers a competitive benefits package, including but not but limited to medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid parental leave; flexible time off; a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities; life and disability insurance; and tuition reimbursement.
