WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our SaaS Onboarding & Reliability team at SimCorp. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery, integration, and reliability of our cloud-based solutions. As part of a cross-functional agile team, you will combine your expertise in software development and IT operations to enhance deployment pipelines, automate infrastructure, and maintain high service availability.

You will play both DevOps and SRE roles — building and automating our Azure platform while keeping mission-critical client environments reliable and secure. You will contribute to the onboarding of new clients onto our GAIN SaaS offering and play a key part in our strategic migration of live clients from AWS to Azure. You will promote continuous improvement through feedback, monitoring, and collaboration with peers and stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

DevOps & Engineering

  • Administer and support SimCorp Data Management and Cloud SaaS (GAIN) environments for internal and external clients.

  • Build and manage cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, ARM).

  • Develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines to automate builds, deployments, and integrations.

  • Create and enhance automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Streamline release and deployment processes for faster, more reliable delivery.

  • Apply OS, database, and infrastructure patches in line with current standards.

  • Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) with Cloud Services Architects to evaluate new solutions.

  • Contribute to the migration of live clients - building and adapting the infrastructure and pipelines required to stand up client environments on Azure.

Monitoring, Reliability & Incident Management (SRE)

  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions for Azure services and infrastructure.

  • Manage incidents, problems, and changes in alignment with SRE and ITIL best practices.

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable fixes.

  • Schedule, optimise, and transition batch jobs to event-driven patterns using enterprise schedulers (e.g. ActiveBatch).

  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises, including annual VAPT.

  • Provide weekend or on-call support on a rotational basis.

Security & Compliance

  • Apply secure-by-design and DevSecOps principles across identity, access, networking, and configuration controls.

  • Ensure compliance with SOC2 and other regulatory requirements by producing operational metrics and reports.

  • Maintain strong security and high availability across all environments.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with development, operations, and Professional Services teams to ensure smooth integration and delivery, including support for product upgrades.

  • Engage directly with clients to resolve technical issues and improve service quality.

  • Maintain clear documentation of processes, configurations, and procedures.

  • Mentor and share knowledge with junior engineers to support team development.

  • Actively participate in Scrum events — planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering.

  • Extensive experience with Azure services, Azure DevOps pipelines, and automation tools.

  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.

  • Solid understanding of monitoring, alerting, and incident management.

  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. SOC2).

  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.

  • 7+ years' experience managing cloud platform in the financial sector.

  • Demonstrated experience with Azure DevOps and Azure services, including Active Directory, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Key Vault, Citrix, Oracle Container & PDB, Functions, Monitoring, Insights, and Billing.

  • Extensive Windows and Linux server administration skills, along with Oracle administration, PL/SQL, XML, and virtualization (VMware, Citrix).

  • Proficiency in Azure pipelines, PowerShell, Python, AWS Lambda, and Azure scripting.

  • Experience with infrastructure creation and application deployment using Terraform and Ansible.

  • Skilled in developing CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling.

  • Knowledge of IT systems administration, IT security operations, and financial data management (reference data, portfolio pricing, corporate actions).

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Grafana.

  • ITIL and ITOps experience in an agile environment.

  • Effective communication, teamwork, presentation, and listening skills.

  • Skilled analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
