This role will work in our Device and Product Group supporting New Technology Introduction (NTI) of our next-gen GaN semiconductor devices. The engineer will be responsible for high-voltage device design (including epi materials), chip layout, FET selection, and package considerations to meet cost, performance and reliability specifications. The engineer will be responsible for successful qualification of new technology platforms including generating test and qual protocols, analyzing test data, lifetime test campaigns, physics based models of reliability and lifetime.
Responsibilities
- High-voltage GaN device design for cost, performance, and reliability
- GaN chip design including unit-cell, metal bus, pad layout to meet Ron, capacitance, current density specs
- Product design including assembly considerations like thermals, wire-bonds, mechanical reliability, and FET selection
- Work with TCAD and SPICE simulation teams to identify key factors for performance competitiveness of the platform
- Generate test and qual protocols, lifetime test protocols, analyze test data in platform development stage
- Ensure successful platform qualification including root-cause analysis of any reliability or quality issues
- Provide physics-based models of the platform reliability and lifetime
- Generate reports to summarize technical information and present in meetings
- Collaborate across teams including epi, reliability, quality, assembly, simulation for successful technology platform introduction that meets cost, performance and reliability requirements
- PhD or MS (+3yrs experience) in Electrical Engineering or related fields
- Strong familiarity with GaN device physics, layout and characterization
- Proficient in data manipulation and analysis. Familiarity with JMP or python is a plus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and adaptable. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Familiarity with reliability physics and failure analysis is a plus
- Familiarity with JEDEC and AEC-Q101 qualification standards is a plus
- Familiarity with Si MOSFET design is a plus
- Renesas offer relocation for this role.
The expected annual pay range for this position is $100K - $120K. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
