Your Opportunity as the Senior Developer, Master Data Hub & Commercial Operations
The J.M. Smucker Co. Commercial Operations organization enables the people, process and technology solutions that support Concept to Commercialization. As Senior Developer, Master Data Hub & Commercial Operations, you will help shape and evolve the Master Data Hub (MDH), a foundational enterprise platform that supports commercialization, customer readiness, regulatory compliance, digital shelf execution and trusted data across the business, helping teams launch products faster and make better decisions. In this role, you will design secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions that improve how item, customer, packaging and digital content data is governed, integrated and shared. You will reduce operational complexity through automation, enable faster access to trusted data, and deliver reusable services that support business growth, analytics, AI and digital commerce. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys solving complex business problems, influencing platform direction, and building enterprise-scale data capabilities.
Location: Orrville, OH (Close proximity to Cleveland/Akron)
Work Arrangements: Hybrid, onsite a minimum of 9 days a month, primarily during core weeks as determined by the Company; additional onsite presence may be required based on business needs.
In this role you will:
Lead MDH platform delivery and technical leadership:
- Design, build and enhance MDH applications, integrations, data services and automation that improve access to trusted enterprise data.
- Translate business and data requirements into reliable, supportable solutions.
- Define and evolve data models, architecture patterns, APIs and integration frameworks.
- Lead technical execution for projects, enhancements and platform initiatives.
- Serve as the MDH technical lead by mentoring developers, establishing standards and influencing platform architecture and strategy.
- Enable trusted data consumption for analytics, AI and emerging digital capabilities across the enterprise.
Operate and improve core MDH services:
- Ensure MDH services, integrations and data pipelines are reliable, secure and available.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive root cause resolution.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation, monitoring and alerting.
- Execute releases, upgrades and platform maintenance with minimal business disruption.
- Reduce technical debt and strengthen platform resiliency, security and supportability.
Partner across business and technology teams:
- Collaborate with Commercial Operations, Data Governance, Customer Enablement, Digital Shelf, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance and Information Services teams.
- Translate technical decisions into business outcomes.
- Communicate complex concepts in a clear and actionable way.
- Recommend scalable solutions that balance speed, risk, cost and long-term sustainability.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of software development experience and a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent technical training.
- Experience delivering solutions using Agile, traditional project delivery or DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language.
- Experience with APIs, data modeling, integration and cloud technologies.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and technical leadership skills.
- Experience mentoring developers and influencing technical decisions.
- Ability to support enterprise-critical platforms and planned releases.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in consumer packaged goods and master data management.
- Experience with Oracle, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or similar technologies.
- Experience with MDM, PIM, integration or data platform technologies such as Syndigo, Informatica or SnapLogic.
- Experience with API, event-driven and streaming architectures.
- Experience supporting analytics, AI or data initiatives.
- Relevant cloud, data or software engineering certifications.
